The 40-page project book in this kit is a condensed version of the full 144 page book.  Creative Lettering and Beyond: Inspiring tips, techniques, and ideas for hand lettering your way to beautiful works of art (Creative...and Beyond) I've purchased both the kit and the full-length book. As for the kit contents, you get a (too small) 5 x 7 inch chalk board, a small easel that's perfect for displaying the chalk board with whatever project you've been working on, two white chalk pencils (too waxy to be much good for anything), and 5 notecards with envelopes.My tinted and white charcoal pencils work better on the included chalk board than the pencils included in this kit, but real chalk - the kind used in schools or on your child's chalk boards - is better yet... And, of course no chalk is provided in the kit.Each note card has one of five basic designs, to which you could add details or lettering. There's also a fine line marking pen that you can use with the note cards to add details or writing. The marker isn't much good for calligraphy purposes though. For that, you'd need to purchase calligraphy pens or markers that are not part of the kit.The projects in the book may not be all that interesting in and of themselves, but the projects do contain pointers and tips for using chalk that you might not have thought of... so the book is educational, at least.Update: 29 October, 2017 I received a free sample of Cretacolor White chalk pencil. My daughter and I loved the Creative Lettering and Beyond book so my daughter saved her money and purchased this kit. What a disappointment! The items are very poor quality....chalk barely shows on chalkboard, etc. Wished we could have loved it.

Es una muy buena compra, aun no lo uso pero el empaque en si es precioso, es una caja libro con un pequño folleto con diversas tecnicas, por lo que vi no trae instrucciones precisas pero si muchas ideas y tips, los accesoriso son de buena calidad, estoy bastante impresionada con el pizarron negro es bastante resistente y los lapices gis waooo!!

I thought the starter kit would really help with lettering techniques. That is not the case. The book just shows a little bit of what is possible to do with lettering; the black pen is not a brush pen, and for someone who never tried, drawing the letters is not the best way to start. The chalk pencil is not so good, is fails sometimes. After this arrived, I ended up looking for free materials for starting to learn lettering and bought a brush pen and a dotted notebook, as recommended by websites.
