I am a professional artist and thought I would give these a try as I usually pay £10 per canvas of this size. I paint in oil and so have found this canvas needs to have a coating of primer, or plain emulsion acrylic applied first, as it is very absorbent and lacks the smoothness and sheen of the quality canvases. I would not use the product for my professional work though, but for students it is perfectly fine. It has some slight irregularities and tiny bumps. This is not ideal for a smooth finish, but I can work around it, but most might find it limits the quality of their work.

They’re fine for beginners although the canvas isn’t stretched tightly enough and there are none of the little balsa shapes that can be fitted to tighten the canvas. Personally I’ll buy elsewhere next time.

Yeh canvases are very easy to paint on and they have a strong effect on paint. It is very vibrant however the canvas was slightly weak as in the paper looked like it was just stapled on for the sake of looking like a canvas. The paper could be a bit stronger
