Great and easy protection, along with a mini hepa air filter, this helps not only protect your eyes and but helps keep the smoke in the area when engraving things

Good Shield
For the Laser Pecker, the Shield is absolutely essential. Some applications are limited by the included cone-shaped shroud with the fan (which is really handy too). The shield makes observation and alignment (with protective glasses) very easy indeed without having to move the laser pecker up and down.

additional safety measure for laser engraver
A set of four acrylic plates that connect at the sides with magnets just enough to stand up and make a box. These were purchased to shield a small laser engraver. Are they absolutely necessary? No. You can survive wearing a big set of orange laser safety glasses that change the color of the world around you and pretty much detract from doing anything other than watch the tiny laser spot burn stuff. If, on the other hand, you would like to start the engraver and walk away doing something else in the same room, you can not wear the glasses but shield the laser with these. Will it stop that one in a million chance of a beam reflection from your disco ball on the ceiling to your eye via the wall mounted mirror, no. That sort of thing can still happen.
