Only 3 colours working once connected two pieces any idea how to fix this?

Could be the remote needing new battery, or you need to check the connection with the sensor is the correct way with the connection as after I put it right it works normal and make sure you're always pointing the remote at the sensor at the box bit for the colours to change correctly

Can I use this all over my apartment or does it only work in one room
