Hubby likes it!
My husband realized he does better with Tea than Coffee, so he's always looking for something new and interesting. I picked this for him and he likes it enough he's now ordered a couple more bags of it. He says it's definitely different than traditional teas, he does not feel any higher level of caffeine type effects but there is *something* about it that he likes that is different (he can't find a good way to describe it) So, if you're a tea person it's worth giving it a go...

Great for people with low energy.
This stuff is great. Much better than any of those energy drinks. I drink it every morning and feel good all day.

Perfectly balanced stimulation - the BEST coffee alterative
I've been drinking Guayusa for over a decade now. It's really an incredibly drink. If you have never tried it before, the closest way to describe it is the flavor of a mellow high quality black tea, the balanced stimulation of matcha, and a complete absence of bitterness or astringency. Despite having the caffeine content of coffee, guayusa never really gives me feelings of overstimulation thanks to the unique phenolic content and alkaloid profile.Tribes have been consuming it ritualistically in the Amazon for thousands of years. Each morning, the Kichwa tribe wakes up early before the sun rises, leaves are picked off one of the many Ilex guayusa trees, and they are tossed into a large pot and set to boil until dark. They then fill the respective tea gourds and drink the mind awakening, stimulating while going around and sharing their dreams from the night before. Ever since I heard that story of guayusa, it has been kind of a magical drink to me.Runa has always been my go to, but these PACHA teabgs are really giving them a run for their money. This guayusa is sweet, fragrant - and incredibly fresh. My bag has a "Packed On" date of May 2022, so it doesn't get much more fresh than that. This guayusa is the "dark" style, which is sweet and mild - as opposed to the "green" guayusa which is astringent and tastes closer to mate. How to brew:*The teabag form works surprisingly well, it's much better than I expected. I typically brew loose-leaf with a tea infuser, but you really can't beat the convenience of these bags. 5 grams per bag provides a large mug full of very strong, dark guayusa. I preheat my mug, and then fill to the brim with boiling water. Press the teabag with a spoon a few timers, and then let sit for 10+ minutes. The resulting infusion is dark, mellow, and sweet - exactly the way good guayusa should taste.Thoughts:This is high quality guayusa in teabag form. If you like tea, try it. If you like coffee, try it. If you like herbal tisanes, try it. I don't really know how anyone could not love guayusa, but it's been a daily drink for me ever since I first tried it years ago.

Excellent tea!
Though nothing can replace coffee for me, I do like to have a variety of energizing teas on hand to help keep my coffee consumption down. This tea has a nice caffeine kick, and is very tasty!I'm big into unsweetened black tea, and I find that this Guayusa tea tastes even better. It doesn't the bitter, astringent bite that black tea has, it's very mild and smooth even when brewed quite strong. The tea has a clean and fresh, almost fruity, almost grassy taste to it that I absolutely adore when I'm hot and sweaty! It's a great pick-me-up for taking breaks during yard work days, and it helps keep my energy levels up and going. This tea doesn't turn opaque when cooled after brewing like my normal black tea does, and it looks beautiful in a glass. The bag that the tea bags come in is reliably resealable, and keeps the tea quite fresh. I've found that this tea doesn't upset my stomach at all if I drink it while my stomach's empty, un like black tea which can sometimes cause a bit of a sour belly if I'm fasting.I am quite impressed with this high quality Guayusa tea, and definitely would buy it again!GUAYUSA Teabags by PACHA - One cup has about 82 mg of caffeine | 5g leaf in each | High Natural Caffeine | Clean & Balanced Energy | Healthy Energy | Alternative to Coffee, Yerba Mate, Yaupon, and Green Tea | (Guayusa)

Good, but won't replace my tea
I had never tried Guayusa before, and I'm glad I did, but it won't be replacing the regular tea I drink. It brews up a nice, dark, brown-green color. Has a pretty strong vegital taste. Almost a bit sweet. Definitely has a sweet aftertaste. To me, the brewed beverage feels a bit thick, like it's not quite as refreshing as traditional tea. I'm not really sure how to describe that feeling. The tea bags have no strings, to avoid excess waste. Directions for brewing are printed on the bag.I looked up some info on Guayusa. It's a type of holly tree from the Amazon rainforest. It's highly caffeinated and contains a lot of antioxidants. Amino acids, too. Has been used in South America for centuries both ceremonially and medicinally and there's evidence that indigenous people have known about the benefits for well over 1,000 years. Apparently, can be used to make alcoholic drinks. There's supposedly no crash or jitters from the caffeine, but I wouldn't know, since caffeine never really affected me that way. I would recommend this to those who like caffeinated beverages and like trying new things.
