Accurate and great App Integration
I've tried alot of moisture meters and they either crap out quickly, aren't highly accurate without the ability to calibrate or require manually taking soil moisture with a probe. This takes care of all of that. Ecowitt makes good products in general. Also use this brand for a wireless remote temp. gauge they make. As far as these temp gauges, just make sure you calibrate them when you get them and after youve connected, they're pretty much plug and play. The gaskets around the battery component can fail sometimes. I lost one of these to moisture getting in the battery compartment. Now, I make sure I tighten the battery case tightly, put the rubber cap on the back and I've augmented by putting a bead of silicone sealant around that rubber cap to really ensure all moisture is kept out. Batteries last atleast through season so I just break the seal, replace battery and reapply seal at beginning of season. Seems to work for me

Pretty good sensors, very good app
I use 4 sensors, the app gives good moisture level alerts. 1 sensor was DOA, Amazon replaced. 1 leaked moisture just allowed it to dry out and resealed with silicone, and is working. 1 reads low, tried adjusting calibration with calibration edit function, sort of helps, but not really accurate. I resealed all of the sensors with GE silicone weather seal, even sealed the seams. Hey, we want the best for our plants, especially now that they are inside for the winter, dehydration just means scale and spider mites! Range is in the 30ish feet, my controller is inside, attached directly to a cable router. Worked without fault to container plants in backyard, and now to plants under lights inside opposite end of home, 30 feet through walls.

So far so good
Bought it because my newly planted quaking aspen was getting leaf scorch. This is for a house we have far away with no gardening/caretaker services nearby. So I needed to make sure it was getting enough water. I have rainpoint wifi water valves and tried their moisture sensor first. It was terrible, not a true wifi sensor, and technically neither is this one, but it's way better. The moisture sensor is RF and talks to a receiver that links to your ecowitt online account. This sensor maintains a log of moisture so you can see how water is retained and when it needs water. This feature alone helped me figure out the best watering times and frequency. The receiver has a pressure and temperature sensor, which isn't too useful for me because it's inside the house, but nice to have it to compare the readings of my thermostat. The sensor takes one AA battery and the receiver is usb powered. The product doesn't come with a usb charger, so you'll have to figure it out for the receiver. Pairing and set up was very simple, but you do need to create an account (email address needed). According to the manual, the battery for the sensor lasts about one year. It's been a couple of weeks, but so far I am please with this purchase.

Red light stresses plants
This moisture meter is great, from the accuracy to how user-friendly the app is, it would get 5 stars, however there's one MAJOR problem...on the top of the meter there is a red light that constantly flashes (indicates WiFi connection), & this can hugely effect your Plants' sleep cycles, potentially causing herms. Once again the meter itself is phenomenal, but that flashing light makes it virtually unusable, so until EcoWitt releases a cover for the light or a version without the light, I can't give this more than 3 stars.

Only worked for a few weeks
I bought this kit and 3 additional sensors to monitor our plants. They worked great for a few weeks, followed all instructions and made sure the rubber caps were put over all the sensors like the directions instructed. 3 weeks later and every single rubber cap has partially disintegrated, allowing water access to the battery compartments of each sensor. Additionally, the battery compartment door is made so cheaply that it's impossible not to overtighten and completely ruin the seal so now moisture has gotten in and the sensors have stopped responding. Based on my experience, they seem to be poorly constructed with cheap materials; therefore, I do not recommend this product.

Takes away the guesswork
I've been using this for a couple of months and it definitely takes the guesswork out of watering. It was relatively easy to set up and pair with an additional units (which come without the module). I will be using these from now on and I recommend them.
