This book changed my life
Yes, it sounds dramatic, but it's no less sincere. This book changed my life. Dr. Laura will always have an honored spot in my heart (even though she can be harsh, even though she is sometimes rude, even though I don't always agree with her) because she helped me to realize why it is worth working to be a good person; it sounds so simple, doesn't it? But so much of our culture is "do what feels good, do what you want, you deserve it." She pulled me to be a better person than this by ruthlessly pointing out the consequences of living by whim and desire of the moment. Reading the stories of other listeners illustrated the long term effects of some of the actions that seem irresistible at the time. This book provided a road map of who I wanted to be and who I eventually became. Character, courage and conscience. She taught me in this book "you are what you do," that there is a "ripple effect" and long term consequences to every choice and behavior, and that history is not destiny and that we choose who we are whatever our past. Absolutely great read. I pick it up and re-read it again every few years. And I am always inspired anew to be a better person. Love this book.

Amazing woman, infinite wisdom
Dr. Laura has been sharing her insight for decades. She has softened through the years in her delivery, but her message still rings true. They should teach middle school, high school and college courses in Dr. Laura wisdom. We’d have far healthier young people with less anxiety and in less medication. Her message is empowering. We need fewer victims and more empowered young folks and adults. Her message of personal responsibility and personal is priceless.

The Wisest Woman I Know!
I've been listening to Dr. Laura since the 90's and never tire of learning more and more about relationships and human interactioons, especially between married couples. Dr. Laura straightened up when I acted like an ASS, and opened up my eyes to improving my relationships. Listening to her is Adictive!

A book that truly changed my thinking and therefore my life.
It is hard to put into words how much this book changed my outlook on life. It challenged what I thought at the time. Initially I was not a fan of the book at all. In fact it made me angry. Ha!! It took me a while before I reluctantly finished the book. Once I got into the book I couldn't put it down until I finished it. It helped make me a better person...a more responsible...a more conscious person.

Not everything is black and white
When I started listening to Dr. Laura, I thought she was right on. People need to have values and integrity. But eventually her finger wagging and self-righteousness got to me. Then I began to look more closely at her advice; shunning, judging, and the most obvious: oversimplification. It is easy to judge when you over-simplify the issues. But life isn't black and white, it is many shades of grey. Although she will tell you she has faced challenges, any person who feels they are always right and you are always wrong will have lessons to learn. On the other hand, I feel she has often been mis-judged and abused herself. We do, as a society, seem to look for ways to shoot down anyone who stands up for good, and who has integrity of their beliefs. If you listen closely to her, she is actually compassionate. I agree with her stand on day care, working mothers, and thoughtless pregnancies. I could go into examples, but it would get pretty ridiculous.Suffice it to say, this book is a good balance for books like Ann Rice puts out, and the many SELF help books.

Youre getting to know yourself and better understand who is who ot the people that surrond you .
Everyone would benefit from this book big time . It's like looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing you character naked whether you want to admit to it or not and as soon as your mind wants to play a trick on you and come with un excuse why you did some thing or didn't do it , you get a awakening slap in the face with the true .
