It cuts hair closely to my poodle's face without cutting her! It is a bit louder than Andis model, and vibrates a bit more, but my dog is not afraid of the noise and it better does the job so I am religiously lubricating it and cleaning to keep it in a working order longer. And on the plus side, I also got additional blade with the purchase so me- happy :)
