Westell 6100 DSL / ADSL / ADSL2 Modem Router

I got the Westell modem in the mail and went to plug it in. The light started to light up and I thought that it was going to work. I then saw that the modem had a "Important" sticker on the front right over the brand name. Or so I thought it was the brand name. Turned out to be a Verizon modem. There was nothing in the description that mentioned that it was a Verizon modem. I have CenturyTel as my DSL company and the modem did not work at first. I spent 3-4 days searching for an answer to deactivate the Verizon features. I finally found a forum that had a solution that I was looking for. The solution is below for those with the same problem. You will also have to go into the settings of the modem, under WAN configuration or "VC" configuration. You will see settings for "VPI and VCI", change the VPI to 8 and the VCI to 35, and you should be good to go. After I did that everything worked just fine and I was able to get on the internet. If the seller had put in the description that it was a Verizon modem and not a generic one, the rating would have been higher.1. Go to 192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm2. Log in : admin, password : password3. Click on "disable".

Modem that was shipped to me only works for Verizon and I use AT&T. So I thought a simple firmware upgrade would fix that but I come to find out that the supplied modem is functionally different from retail Westells (or models produced for other ISPs) and the firmware between them is Not compatible and can not be interchanged.Now to return, I've sent in 2 emails and no response from the seller, if you don't buy direct from amazon, I say buyer beware!!!

I am pleased with the service of the business who sold the Westell 6100 to us. The Westell 6100 had no problems, unfortunately it did not work with our current internet setup. We had to return the Westell 6100. We were very please with the professional way that Genesis 17:7 worked with us throughout the return process. I would highly recommend this business.

I've had this Westell modem since I have been buying computers and they are consistently good. Nothing more to report

The correct item, delivered quickly. Alas, I found it conflicted with an already installed system. Will be able to use this later, I'm sure.

the Wwestell 6100 met our expectations. It was exactly what we needed to replace our Century Link Westell. The shipment arrived in good time and it was not hard to hook up once we got the password from Century Link. No problems works fine.

This product was not what was pictured. The one I received did not have 5 lights like the one pictured. It has only 3 lights. The only reason I ordered it initially is because it was pictured just like the one I need to replace. I have not been able to contact this seller.
