Perfect!
I bought this for my Cobra HH450 radio. I was having problems with the volume level. The lapel microphone is perfect. Clarity is clear, volume can be made louder than you'll need it to be. Microphone is small and compact. I have yet to use it in inclement weather. But it appears that it will be more water resistant, than waterproof.

For a mic that connects to a waterproof radio...it doesnt like getting damp!
For a mic that connects to a waterproof radio...it doesnt like getting damp! Some sites advertise this as a waterproof unit, which you'd expect given it fits into a waterproof radio with a waterproof fitting, but don't be fooled. First time it got damp on the ski, it jammed the channel it was on. Complete waste of money to be fair - given it was for a marine environment.

Functions just fine for me
For what it is, it works good. The sound quality is as good as the speaker on the handset, and the mic seems to be just as good as well. Keep in mind that if you're looking for more of a covert setup, there is a 3.5mm audio jack located on the bottom of the lapel mic right next to the wire, so you could plug some earbuds into it instead of it broadcasting your radio chatter to everyone around you. That's especially helpful when this is part of your hunting or tactical setup. Now, I'm not sure if it's due to me using this lapel speaker/mic or some other issue, but ever since I plugged this into my Cobra radio, the radio won't broadcast sound through its regular speaker anymore. Since I ONLY use my radio with the lapel mic attached, it's not really a problem for me so I've never looked into fixing it, but that's something to keep in mind if that matters to you. Might be a fluke, might be a compatibility issue between the radio and the accessory. Who knows. But it's fine for my needs so there you go.

Great lapel mics!
Great lapel misc. I've used Motorola mics in an airport setting for .20 years. Those mics are substantially more expensive and these are just about as good. Great sound and clarity while using these mics. A+

A good buy
We are using this mic to help boost communication between the driver and the volunteer firefighter on the back of the rural fire truck. It worked well other than in a very noisy area the speaker had to be turned up almost to distortion. The talk button was easy to find even with gloves. Overall I was pleased with its performance.

Does not help make the handheld radio easier to hear.
Got this to try to make my Cobra handhelds easier to hear in a marine environment. Did not work. Don't know if it was the radio (probably) or the speakers, but they did not work out.

Happy with this mike.
I've used this mike on my sailboat for several years now, and it has never let me down. It's easier to hear the radio with the mike located near my ear, and convenient to talk into with it clipped on my shirt. Much more efficient than having to grab for the radio when one, or both, of your hands are occupied with handling the boat. Glad I bought it, and happy that it turned out to be more useful than I expected.
