Good device price good too
I bought this Blink video doorbell to replace my old dumb doorbell. After loads of research this fitted my need the best.I wanted something that would send a message to my smartphone when I was using my noise cancelling headphones. The Blink product did not come with an indoor chime box which was a bit disappointing.I think you may be able to purchase a compatible indoor chime but I didn't research this.Blink say you can wire it to your old system but later I found my old system was not the right voltage. (My Fault)I managed to link the new doorbell to my smartphone and two Alexa units, one in the living room and one in the hall.I had a small problem with setting the volume which I couldn't solve myself.I contacted Blink support and got an immediate automated reply. To my surprise about two hours later I got a full reply which sorted the problem. Basically it was to Delete and reinstall the doorbell. This doorbell is one of the few that you can choose to have a cloud subscription or not.If you don't want the cloud service then you can buy their Sync 2 module into which you can plug a USB stick for recordings.I got my sync module in an Amazon deal with the doorbell. The doorbell will work on its own but you lose sum options without the sync module or the cloud. The video quality is not top of the range and is quite useable but I didn't want it for the video .It may be worth having some assistance in setting up the system but the Blink instructions and website are very good.So far I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it.UPDATE: The video on this doorbell is actually very good.I've had it for a week or so and am very pleased with it.Would well recommend it.

Clear and flexible images from doorbell to my phones.
A great piece of kit. No subscription needed. Installed easily and the fields of vision can be altered to exclude tree branches etc. clip length and other motion detection parameters can also be managed very easily through the user-friendly app. The Sync Module takes the doorbell data and feeds into the app on my iPad, and the module will take a memory stick for greater and longer term storage. Much better than my previous doorbell camera. The app sticks a bit, and has to be rebooted occasionally but the picture is very clear, and loads within 5 seconds. Bought a camera also which shows images on the app equally quickly and clearly.

Needs 16v transformer….
The bell itself is brilliant but, unlike competitors, it doesn’t work with standard door bell chimes with less than 16v output (UK standard is 8v). This means having to install a separate transformer to boost the power so that you can have an audible chime or you just have to rely on phone notifications. It does have its own built in chime but it’s not loud enough to be heard in the house.

Poor technology and very poor technical support
tldr: Doorbell worked until trial ended. Doorbell stopped recording button presses. By the time the shoddy app actually opens, the person at the door has long gone. Blink support is poor. It’s as though the camera and the apps were designed and built by someone who doesn’t really know what a doorbell is and how it’s used. Technical support seems to be run by bots. The app on ios is glitchy. The notifications on Alexa are glitchy and often come too late.It doesn’t really work on a FireTV stick nor on an Echo Show 5 (both returned due to Blink’s flaky performance with these). The Blink app is unintuitive and poorly designed. It seems to be not coded very well to interface with other Amazon hardware. The cloud sync to a local device (only available with a subscription) makes no sense at all and doesn’t work very well.As a step up from a ‘dumb’ doorbell it’s ok, but it’s hard work trying to keep it operating smoothly.Hugely annoying too is the fact that most of the advertised features are blocked but still visible without a paid subscription. The features are still visible in the app, but not available without a subscription. The reams of ‘help’ documents are poorly written and confusing. I have a usb flash drive attached which is supposed to record clips. It records motion clips but stopped recording clips of bell presses as soon as the trial subscription ended. To repeat, the doorbell camera worked as expected until the trial subscription ended.Blink support now blames my network connection for the issues, but the camera worked entirely as expected until the trial subscription ended.Blink support seems to be located in a timezone far from the UK, so if you’re troubleshooting from the UK it’s a lengthy process as support only respond during UK nighttime.Another issue with Blink is that the trial subscription lasts a month. If the trial subscription is not cancelled before the month is up, then customers have no opportunity to discover how the features work before the return period has ended. This is, to be charitable, very sneaky.Blink support seems to be solely operated by a.i. Their responses are repetitive. They ignore questions and will simply paste links to their own site’s ‘help’ section. The ‘help’ articles are not relevant to the issue at hand and are poorly written.Poor quality implementation of technology. They should give the hardware away for nothing and make subscriptions compulsory. This halfway house (you may or may not use it without a subscription) is pointless. It doesn’t work properly without a subscription and the free trial subscription just seems to create technical issues that are apparently impossible to resolve and which appear as soon as the trial ends, when it’s too late to return the device under Amazon’s return policy. This is poor customer service.A replacement is on the way but I think this product is poorly designed and poorly supported.

Peace of mind
Works extremely well. This is a great option as a first door bell camera. You can set it to lower motion activity. Talk to visitors, when your not home. Great for ignoring undesirable people at the door. Older people may need help, setting it up. Connects to wifi easily. It stores captures without s.d card but best to get 1. Clear vision at night. Well worth the money.
