Helped me understand the best approach for me as a female
There's so much conflicting advice out there now in terms of what you should eat and how you should eat. It's really confusing and can be anxiety-inducing. I found this book helpful in settling a few things in my mind, including whether its helpful or not for women to use intermittent fasting, or low carbohydrate approaches (especially if you are active or looking for performance results). I've been trying to lose some body fat, and I think this book has given me a healthier way of trying to go about it, a healthier mindset, and an understanding of how the body may respond to different approaches. Renee seems to carefully consider scientific research and think about whats relevant to different groups of people, including women. I sometimes think other books might give general advice, based on research or work with just men. Based on this book and following Renee on Instagram, watching videos of Renee chatting things through, I feel I can trust her advice. The book sections are clear, so its easy to dip into a topic or group you are interested in, and each section has a 'professional opinion' and 'summary' at the end. The paperback copy I received is printed on less good quality paper than the paperback I loaned from the library, but this might be normal for reprints since the book was launched.

Brilliant informative and accessible
I found this really helpful for personal application and for some reading / preparing ahead for a Performance Nutrition module on my degree course. The RED-S and Energy Availability info is particularly helpful for me as I am very active in daily life plus running and gym and I find I need to eat like a horse to sustain it !!! I like Renee McGregor’s approach both in public speaking , writing and social media- she makes balanced scientific explanations readable and accessible and interés for us all !
