Amazingly good - so much better than others
This is a review of several of the Syntrax Nectar Whey Protein powders. All of them are gluten-free and lactose-free, and the ingredients lists are pleasingly short. (They do not have vitamins and minerals in them, which to me is a good thing, because some of the minerals I have found in other protein powders I would not want to be taking, like chromium, for example.)I do have one criticism of these otherwise fantastic protein powders. I would like the nutrition label to state the carbohydrate etc per 100 grams, not just per the very small serving size. To me, when companies give a tiny serving size and don't state the amount per 100 grams, it looks as though they are trying to hide carbohydrate or fat or whatever by rounding down to zero.Cappuccino - 4.7 starsThis was the first Nectar protein powder I tried. As a person who loves good coffee and grinds my own carefully chosen beans in a burr grinder, etc, and also as one who does not have a sweet tooth and who hates with a passion artificial sweetener taste and aftertaste, I feared that I might not like this Syntrax Nectar Lattes Cappuccino, given what one very helpful reviewer said. And when I opened the tub, I was even more worried, because I thought I could smell coconut, and I absolutely hate the taste of coconut. My plan was to mix a scoop of this stuff with a teaspoon of creatine in some cold milk or water (don't try to mix these with hot fluids like I did the first time!) and then add half a cup of hot coffee (my second cup -- didn't want to ruin my first cup!). However, before I added my coffee to it, I thought I'd try it. It looked like a coffee milkshake. To my great surprise, I ended up drinking it just as it was, without adding any coffee to it. It was actually surprisingly delicious. I did not notice either any coconut flavour or any aftertaste of artificial sweetener despite knowing that another reviewer had found an artificial sweetener aftertaste, and all I can say about this is that I have tried so many different brands of protein powder in an attempt to find one that isn't so ghastly it makes me feel sick with the horrendous taste of it, that perhaps I was expecting it to be dire so was pleasantly surprised, whereas perhaps had I never tried a protein powder before I might not have been so thrilled with this? I don't know. It tasted good to me. This one is the first protein powder I have found that genuinely tastes really good. I was worried it would be too sweet, as I tend to find protein powders sickly sweet as well as unpleasant tasting and difficult to dissolve. Even though I only used half a cup of liquid, Syntrax Nectar Lattes Cappuccino dissolved really easily compared to all the other brands of protein powder I have tried. These people seem to know something other protein powder manufacturers don't. I am impressed.UPDATE: I have now tried this with half a cup of real coffee, and I must admit that it did ruin the coffee. But that is probably because I drink coffee black with no sugar, so it just didn't work to add this sweet milkshake-like stuff to my coffee. But yet I still find it delicious as a milkshake! I have also now tried it mixed with just plain water, and although it is not quite like the perfect coffee milkshake it makes with milk, it is still perfectly acceptable, and nothing like the sickly gag-inducing or otherwise weird-tasting protein powders I have tried in the past. For the best milkshake I now regularly use half a cup of freshly-brewed coffee gone cold, a scoop of this, and either a bit more water or sometimes a dash of milk. Fabulous coffee milkshake. Drinking it cold rather than hot is the secret, for me, that makes it seem like a milkshake rather than a ruined cup of coffee.UPDATE 2: When mixed with a very small quantity of fluid, such that it is a thick paste, I can detect the coconut aroma or something off, so I have reduced the number of stars to 4.7. But it is not designed to be used that way, so I may be being unfair. It is still fine made up as per the instructions.Syntrax Nectar Sweets Vanilla Bean Torte - 5 starsThis was the second flavour I tried. This is the best. Absolutely outstanding. If you love the taste of real vanilla and enjoy vanilla desserts in which you can see the tiny specks of vanilla bean, this is the flavour for you. Nothing like any so-called vanilla-flavoured protein powder I have ever tasted before. I have had no problem mixing this with anything. A real treat. I have used more of this flavour than any other so far.Syntrax Nectar Sweets Chocolate Truffle - 4.8 starsTo me, this one is not chocolaty enough, but I expect adding more chocolate would have added carbs, which they wanted to avoid. You can always add a bit of cocoa yourself, but you can't remove carbs that are already there, and actually, the name "chocolate truffle" seems somehow right for this, especially when I mix it with milk rather than plain water. Please don't get me wrong: it is far better than any other chocolate protein powder I have tried (and there have been many over the years). It does taste very good. It is an extreme treat with whole milk. Fantastic for using in cold chocolate desserts to increase the protein content. On no account try to mix it with hot water though. The result is something like scrambled egg (and not even sweet chocolatey scrambled egg!). Otherwise, it mixes perfectly well (in plain tap water or milk, etc).UPDATE: This one has grown on me so much that I now often use this flavour and some of the vanilla flavour instead of the cappucino flavour one with my half a cup of brewed coffee gone cold.Roadside Lemonade - 4.5 stars or moreI was initially slightly disappointed that this was not intensely tangy, as I like very sharp lemon flavoured things. To me, this is not tangy enough to be called "lemonade". HOWEVER, again, when I think of it instead as, say, lemon mousse, it suddenly seems perfectly balanced. Indeed, I have made a fantastic high-protein low-carb low-fat lemon mousse using this particular protein powder, by mixing a scoop of this with the juice of a lemon or two and then adding the resulting thick liquid to whipped egg white before spooning it into dishes to set. It's not the real thing but it's not bad!I tried mixing Roadside Lemonade with carbonated water from the refrigerator and although the result was delicious and very reminiscent of unset cold lemon souffle, much of the protein powder did not mix in and I ate the unmixed bits with a spoon (and very delicious they were too). But given how easy I have found it to mix it with milk from the fridge, and tap water, I was surprised that it did not mix well with the seltzer water. If you expect super-tangy clear lemonade, this will disappoint. But if you like creamy cold lemon souffle and think of this as that, you will love it.Pink Grapefruit - 4.3 starsI ordered this one because another reviewer said that it is more tangy than the Roadside Lemonade one. To my palate it is not more tangy than that one, and again I wish it were more tangy, but it is still quite refreshing if you make up a batch with tap water and put it in the fridge to chill before you drink it. It does have a real pink grapefruit flavour. However, if you are expecting it to be indistinguishable from actual pure pink grapefruit juice, you will be disappointed. It is a protein powder, not fruit juice, and it does have a slight extra proteiny something in the aroma, to my extra-sensitive nose. Nevertheless, the flavour is very much pink grapefruit, and it does not have an artificial taste or artificial sweetener aftertaste, and I am sure I will order more of this one. I personally wish it were very sour white grapefruit flavour with no sweetness at all, but if you like pink grapefruits, and if you ever enjoy grapefruit with added sugar or other sweetener you will love this.Fuzzy Navel - 5 starsThis one was the biggest surprise to me. I nearly didn't order it because the taste of artificial peach flavour, and even the taste of non-artificial peach flavour sometimes, literally nauseates me, and someone said this protein powder has a peachy flavour. I made some up and put it in the fridge to chill before I tried it. To my astonishment it is FABULOUS! It reminds me of a particularly delicious smoothie I had once, that was made of oranges with some fresh peach and a little mango. This is by far the most refreshing and non-protein-tasting of the fruit flavours I have tried so far. To my surprise this is now my favourite of all the Syntrax Nectar protein powders I have tried. I might even prefer it to the wonderful vanilla flavour!Crystal Sky - 2 starsIf you like the taste of fake cherry flavoured medication or very artificially-flavoured cherry candy, you might well love this, but this is the one flavour I can't stand. Perhaps the 2 stars is unfair given that I don't doubt many would love it. It mixes easily etc. It just tastes like ghastly medication I had when I was a child, that made me vomit, so this one is not for me. Strangely enough, this is NOT the "Twisted Cherry" one, and the picture on the tub has a variety of fruit not including cherries, but still, to me it tastes like artificial cherry flavour.Syntrax Nectar Medical Unflavored 1lb - 5 starsThe pure protein powder with no flavouring whatsoever. This one is useful for adding to other things to increase the protein content. However, the protein denatures at high temperatures (it says not to add liquid over 130F, which is really not very hot at all) so my plan of adding it to things I am cooking has come to nothing. I tried it with water and it has less flavour than any other 'unflavoured' protein powder I have tried, but it is not completely devoid of flavour. It would be masked by other flavours easily but it is not like drinking a glass of pure water. Not quite sure how I am going to use this yet but I am still giving it 5 stars because it is medical grade easily-dissolved protein powder that could be added to any cold or warm (up to 130F) drink without ruining the flavour.UPDATE: My husband loves this "Medical Unflavored" one in his diet Coke. He almost can't detect it in his soda, which he likes.

Satisfied all around
I've been using the Syntrax Caramel Macchiato protein powder almost every morning for breakfast, and it's become one of my favorites. The flavor is absolutely delicious, with a rich caramel taste that blends perfectly with the subtle notes of coffee. It's smooth and not overly sweet, making it a great option for anyone looking to add some flavor to their morning routine without the typical artificial taste that some protein powders have. What I love most about this protein powder is how versatile it is. Whether mixed with water, milk, or blended into a smoothie, it dissolves easily and has a great texture with no chalky aftertaste. I've even introduced it to several friends, and everyone loves it too. It’s not just a protein supplement but also a delightful treat that makes starting the day a little sweeter. If you’re a fan of caramel macchiatos and want a protein boost, I highly recommend giving this a try. It's a great way to enjoy the taste of your favorite coffeehouse drink while meeting your nutritional goals.

Great product but a little too sweet
I think this protein is one of the best protein on the market. Has good taste and easy to drink, the only thing is, it’s too sweet for everyday use. Even though it’s sugar-free.

Best coffee flavored protein powder I've tried.
I have been drinking at least 2 protein shakes everyday for a year now. Since shakes make up a large portion of my food intake, they have to taste good. I was super excited to try the CLICK espresso protein powder as I heard great things about it. When I tried it, however, it had too much of an acidic taste for me and with ice, it got really thick. But I love coffee drinks, so I started making my own protein coffee drinks with regular vanilla protein powder mixed with home-made espresso. It's good, but I wanted to cut back on how much caffein I was drinking. Here's where Nectar's Cappuccino protein powder comes in. I'll admit I prefer my vanilla powder with espresso mix better than this powder, but since I'm cutting back the caffein, this really does the trick. I usually mix it with about 4 oz of unsweetened almond milk and a few pieces of ice for a yummy protein shake. I will admit that it does have a bit of an aftertaste of artificial sweetener, but it is not too much for me. And with the nutritional facts, this is my favorite protein powder.I did try Nectar's other protein powders, but I found I enjoyed this one most, followed by the vanilla bean torte, and finally the fuzzy navel. All others just tasted gross to me.The only thing that holds me back from buying it really often is the $32 price tag. While that really isn't too bad for such a large tub of protein powder, it is difficult to fork over the money regularly when I can buy a tub of Body Fortress vanilla from Kroger for $14 and mix it with espresso.

If you like sweet, this is for you
The protein isolate makes this easy for me to digest. The powder mixes smoothly with little effort. I add it to lactose free milk to up the protein value. It's delicious, especially with a couple of ice cubes to really chill it down. The flavor is quite sweet, so avoid this brand in general if you don't like sweet flavors. All of the flavors I've tried are very much on the sweet side. This package comes in a big tub container with a screw on top, so it stays fresh. (if you're planning to travel, look for the single serving packages - so convenient. And there is an option of a multi-flavor pack so you can try them out). Finding a space in my pantry was a little tough for such a large container. There was a purple scoop included in the container for measuring serving sizes, but it was buried in the powder so I didn't discover it for a few days. I suggest digging around in the powder with a long-handled spoon if you don't find the scoop right away - it's definitely in there.
