Launch X431 CRP429C Scan Tool. Great value for your money!
I had been searching for a mid-priced scan tool that has free lifetime updates over wifi when I came across this unit by Launch.I am always looking for the best deal and while doing my search, Amazon just happened to have a lightning deal; $60.00 off with a $30.00 discount. For me, that was a no-brainer so I went ahead and purchased it.I have tried and own several scan tools so I have a lot to compare this with. The initial activation was very easy so on to the downloads. I only download what I am going to be using so its a little easier on my time and the scan tool’s space. The downloads went very fast which was a pleasant surprise as that is one area where a some scan tools fall flat.I have two personal vehicles and being a retired Master Auto Tech, I work on others also.I plugged it into my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and put it through its paces. I was very pleased with the performance and it did all that it was advertised to do.I then proceeded to connect it to our 2022 Ford Escape lease car. The newer vehicles if another possible problem area for some scan tools. The Launch handled it with ease, showing all the modules. I even disconnected the purge valve to check the code help function. It detected the fault right away and took me to a google search where the fault could be researched. It cleared the fault once reconnected and I was happy with the performance. The live data is displayed very well and refreshes fast. There is graphing for most functions as I was concerned about the abs, which it also graphs.I especially like the fact that instead of clumping all the live data selections together regardless of the module, it puts the selections in each individual category. The tool navigates and performs fast so it does not disappoint. The escape icon on the top right makes it very easy to use and saves several steps. The tool is very well built with a rubberized grip around its perimeter. The screen is very bright, in fact I had to turn it down. It is very detailed, lives up to its 720P specification, and is easy on the eyes. The battery seems more that adequate and it does charge when plugged into the vehicle’s OBD2 port. It also has its own charging usb cable with a 2.5mm plug at the tool end but you will need to supply a usb power adapter, I believe Launch specifies 5V 1A.The features listed on the website are very accurate both in content and functionality.I did have occasion to contact Kingbolen with some questions and they responded within 24 hours answering my questions effectively.I saw in the website listing that a free gift, one of two different items, was available with a requesting email. I did email them with my selection and as I was writing this I received an email stating the free gift was on the way coupled with a text and a USPS tracking. How’s that for timing! The OBD2 cord plugs into the bottom of the tool which is different that my other tools and I though it may be a problem but I quickly acclimated to it.It does come with a case but I had a hard case from another tool that I am using instead. The supplied case is adequate and holds all the necessary components. Not sure what else I can say other than I highly recommend it.Thank you Launch and Kingbolen for a great tool, great price and good communication!

5 star demoted to 3 star because Not supported by USA market
I gave this product a 3 star because if you have issues with reductant/exhaust fluid quality, or some emissions components it won’t do all steps needed for North American car that it leads you to believe it is capable of. It also is not supported by Launch USA technical support as it’s not authorized to be sold in North America. You have to go through Launch in china for any technical support. All this aside, it does function for most DTC reads and resets. It will not clear or test reductant quality issues. Will not reset reductant or exhaust quality poor trouble code on the dash. I was able to trouble shoot the vehicle and find the causes for the exhaust fluid quality poor notice on the dash. But after installing the new parts it will not clear the code or reset the dash.I have done a forced service regen successfully but i cannot successfully perform a reductant fluid quality test or reset- technical support has now told me this unit is not capable of doing said test.It can do, Reductant injector test, after filter injection test. Nox1 and 2 tests. Live data logging works well. I can review the data log pre and post sensor replace and see then sensors indeed operating properly now with new one. What i did learn is if you repair all the problems with reductant system the car will clear the code on its own after 13-20 miles, as long as you remove the scanner and just drive normally. So all the little things aside, it has great data logging abilities that are extremely helpful diagnosing intermittent or drivability issues that you can’t see and drive. Some say all the updates kill the internal memory. Well i have done 80 updates now and i was capable of doing multiple 20 min drive data logs and log 28 channels in these logs and i have not run out of memory and have 11 logs saved on file. So not sure how some would say not enough memory. There a little to moderate learning curve on this as you have to navigate back and forth from system reset to diagnostics as you have to completely close out each before you can transfer to the other. My only complaint about software is every-time you go back and forth from from scanning to reset you have to read the serial number and auto accept your vehicle each time. The fact you can connect it to WiFi and print your health reports and vehicle diagnostic report or email it is really a great feature. Run a scan print and put it in glove box is great if you have multiple problems you can print new log and compare your progress. Or see recurring issues.Honestly bang for buck it might be best tool available right now. Just don’t mistake it for a true 400 series launch tool that sell for 2-3 times the cost as they do more then this unit is capable of.But don’t be fooled that a 30-150 dollar scanner can do what this unit can. At local auto parts store there only comparable unit to this is well over 400 dollars. There units that will do a reductant quality test is over 900 bucks.Note, got the best technical support using the contact buyer through Amazon purchase history. Contact seller.

Good value for the money
Does as much or more than a more expensive scanner. Note that tech support is different than launch USA product but still excellent support.

Brilliant value, along side great features.
This scan tool is up there with the speed of a multi-thousand dollar Autel tool albeit not wireless. (launch if you're listening this would be a nice add-on module to provide.) Its user interface does take a little bit to get used to but it is not a steep learning curve. I'm confident that if this was your first scan tool it wouldn't be hard to pick up. Functions such as the health report to email are great too. Live data is amazing and can be saved for later reference. (I've used the tool on a Hyundai excel 2000~ that it read instantly, along with a Subaru Liberty Gen4 2006) The item is as described with all ODB-II functions available. With my usage so far I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tool to a friend. Carry case is a nice addition too.The build quality of the unit has exceeded my expectations and feels like it would really take a beating. It's grippy enough to grab without fear of it sliding out of your hand even with a bit of oil around while feeling tough enough to survive quite a few falls, the screen is also recessed a tiny bit, but best not drop it really. On the topic of the screen, it is very responsive and touch is a nice addition making navigation a breeze. The buttons also aid in quick navigation or an alternative for when you may not want to use the screen. The speaker in this unit is just fine, protected by thick plastic molding there's not a risk of damage to it. The internal battery is also a must-have for analyzing data or referring to previous reports without having to plug the unit in anywhere, just careful because it will also charge from the ODB-II connection so it has the potential to run the car's battery flat if left for hours.Nitpicks (at this price can't ask for much more):- Additional programing features focused around the ECU- Wireless module options- A wall charger (the unit comes only with a USB to barrel jack cable, this is not a deal-breaker I still haven't used it use as when recording live-data the car charges it.)Seller specific details: they posted the item in ample time and there were no issues with the shipping. The item arrived in a brand new condition, as expected.
