Coats & ClarkDual Duty Plus Jeans Thread, 60-Yard, Red-Orange

For anyone looking to mend jeans with a specific "golden yellow" thread, this is a really great color match as well as being a thick enough thread for denim work. I had a pair of Levi's in need of mending and this was a pretty close match to the thread; they are a newer pair of jeans and so the thread on the denim was slightly lighter than this spool, but it matched good enough. Would be a perfect match for other more traditional denim.

Needed thread to hem my jeans after they were altered, the color of this thread was an exact match.

Not sure if this is a smaller version of the thread but I expected more for the cost of this. Otherwise, the thread works well, and is very sturdy. Giving 4 star due to the cost could be lower.

Thread arrived in a timely manner & just what I expected at a reasonable price.

Need to used a heavy duty needle to sew with as this thread is thick

This is the thread used for blue jean pockets, edge stitching and top stitching. Be sure to use a top stitch needle size 100 if you are sewing denim or size 90 for cottons. Also use a longer stitch like 2.9mm or 3.0. Check your stitches carefully to be sure the tension is correct and no stitches are skipped. If you notice skipped stitches try a higher needle size or a staight plate or a jeans presser foot on your machine. (A straight plate has a single hole for the needle as compared to a plate with an oval opening for the needle.) There is not much thread on the spool so if you are sewing more than one pair of jeans and plan to top stitch everywhere then buy two spools...or if you are a perfectionist and will pick out a crooked top stitch buy two spools!One could also use this thread to hang Christmas ornaments or similiar things.

Nice color and texture that matches jean thread. I used this thread to shorten the hem on several pairs of jeans and the final product looks professional.The thread color is darker than the product image. The attached picture shows the thread on a piece of jean fabric that I practiced setting the correct stitch and shows the color of the thread against blue jeans.
