Awesome introduction to the genre
I had just recently heard of the LitRPG genre so I had no idea who were the leading authors in it or where to start. The name of the series immediately sparked my interest because there's not a lot of sci-fi/fantasy books that include the "mundane" as more than a passing mention to set the scene. I was not disappointed!! Kept me interested throughout the whole book! Descriptive enough to get a good mental image without drone on, good dialog, world building, suspense, teeny bit of romance, all the things! I ordered book 2 when I was halfway through this one. Then I told myself I would get one book a month in the series. I made it 3/4 through book 2 before I ordered book 3. Controlled myself for about 2 days after I finished book 3 before I ordered all the rest! It's just so good!! So in the span of about 3 weeks I became the proud owner of all the currently released books 😄😅 Worth every penny! And doubly so because it's in print and not just an ebook!

I waited too long to start this book
This was surprisingly witty and fresh. It's part mystery, part suspense, part comedy. I want to know all the little secrets in this series.

Another awesome Farmer story.
A fun farming story with an OP mc. But since this MC knows he's OP, I can't rate it higher. It takes away the fun of seeing him discover his powers as he farms. But it was fun and I look forward to continuing the series in the future.

Excellent, fun read
I love this series so much that, even though I can borrow it whenever with my Kindle unlimited sub, I purchased the books. The characters are great, the MC is OP but that power is actually a source of trouble. I like that there is adventure and peril and humor, but it is written in such a way that it isn't traumatic. Sometimes you just need fun, comforting, and relaxing, not an emotional rollercoaster.

Picked this up on a whim
I've only recently gotten into LitRPG books and was not at all familiar with this author but the book had great reviews so I decided to give it I try. Very glad I did. There's already seven books in the series which is good as I am a fast reader. The positives: great plot, excellent editing as I didn't come across any errors and the dialogue was easy to follow. The one negative, something a couple other people mentioned in their reviews, the word "haha" being used to start a lot of sentences. Gets a little aggravating and hopefully the author moves away from it. People also mentioned the main character is overpowered and while that may bother some, I actually liked it. Most series the MC starts out very weak and has to "level up" but it was refreshing that the plot centered around him learning to live a normal life.Reminded me of another series I very much enjoyed wherein the most powerful mage from ankther era was reincarnated into the body of a noble brat and the books were about his attempts to build up his town and society at large similar to how this book centered on the MC learning how to become a farmer after a decade at war.Already purchased the next book and looking forward to reading more about this world.

Drew me in right away.
John is comfortable with being alone, yet finds the farm he earned with retirement, comes with two individuals. The underneath complicated life he thought he'd find, has turn upside down.

OP MC done different
Alternate universe, magic, LitRPG lightThe story starts out with John Sutton, an MC who appears cold and unfeeling, and only begins to thaw near the end. The "haha"s were annoying. The grim character made it difficult to sympathize with the MC, and at one point nearly abandoned the story; it somewhere around page 300 that he began to smile and act reserved instead of robotic, which quite the gamble, betting that readers will continue on with an MC demanding and who rebukes attempts to draw into conversations and possible friendships. 450 pages of story well edited. If I didn't already have the next book, I might have skipped the sequel. There are heroes and anti-heroes, but those who are so walled off as to appear devoid of feeling for so long into the story? It was nearly too long. I'm curious about some of the mysteries, but I'm not invested in the MC yet, and that's not a good thing. I'm hoping book 2 gives more emotional satisfaction.

Amazing!
After reading loads of books about the beginning of someone in a world of Magic, this book is refreshing different view from the usual "I just entered a New world!".In a good pace, I can describe this book as a tranquil, cativating approach. Cheers to the author!

Cool book
The book was a fun read. I liked how John behaved and acted it really gave a feeling of an old warrior just fed up with this crazy feel. All the side characters were fun to read about and I liked the mystery revolving the valley.

Good genre hybrid
I went into this book not really expecting much to be honest but came away thoroughly impressed. This book is basically a blend of slice of life with more high stakes, action packed fantasy. The MC wants a quiet life on his farm and we get lots of enjoyable scenes of him hunting down his missing cows and building a cheese empire. These scenes though are interspersed with an overarching plot of mystery around the history of magic and the nature of the ‘doom points’ that are forever accumulating on a backdrop of a world ravaged by magic used as a weapon of mass destruction. This blend could be really awkward and disjointed but I felt it actually merged brilliantly here. The characters are vivid and the dialog is great which makes the slice of life elements engaging with charm to spare. The action is done well with interesting fights and an intriguing world. I did think initially that the system of magic in the book was a little messy but this makes sense by the end. The MC only has one spell but has twisted that one spell to the extent he’s basically a Demi god (while also hastening the apocalypse every time he uses that power). You see he has skills that sort of explain that early and then hints are dropped and it fully makes sense by the end. Overall it was done quite well I felt.Overall super impressed with this book and moving right onto the next.
