Very effective tool against pesky Carpenter Bees ! Highly recommend ..read on for more
One of the most frustrating things in life is having the wrong definition of things. Many years ago i was told that these larger black bees were called black jacks and that they don't sting... that info never challenged i assumed i had black jacks and didnt' think anything of them. Little did i know that what I was thinking were these benign bee were actually carpenter bees and although they were not very agressive against humans (though the queen will sting) and slow moving .. i didnt' realize what they were doing. They made it point to target my pergolla because it was made of a soft wood... these bees like the soft wood and make long tunnels in them to lay their eggs... if you ever see a pile of sawdust randomly it's like not random .. carpenter bees are very distructive. I did some research and found they usually make holes about a quarter inch thick if you follow them you can find where their holes are.. what confusing about these holes is that they will appear as any other screw hole.. Look out for saw dust piles to help you identify them. I found that using an can of foam based pest control with long straws to feed into the holes which should kill the carpenter bees and there after using a wood filler or wooden dowls to plug up the holes. These Bee hive latterns give the illusion that Bees have nested , Carpenter bees see these avoid the area. A very cost effective solution against carpenters bees which are very distructive.

Yes - They Absolutely DO Work
I am on a farm with multiple buildings. I bought a 6 pack and put one on the front and back of each building and so far, we have had no problems this year. I have to admit I was skeptical but not now. I will probably other another set for the wood shed, shop and garage. These are made out of a silky like material that seems to be durable and dries easily after being wet. I highly recommend these.

love these
love these but need a better hook to hang them on. The hook has an open end and is difficult to secure in the wind, it blows off the string.

Really works!
We had tons of bees/wasps attempting to make homes in the back of our house where our kids play. As soon as we put this up we immediately saw less of them and within a week they were gone.Being waterproof is a an added bonus as well.

Works!
I was a bit apprehensive ordering these for deterring carpenter bees around our deck. They look like Chinese paper lanterns, but I was pleasantly surprised they seemed to have done the trick. We had a few bees initially, but none created nests as in years past. They are lightweight and easy to assemble/install. Getting six of these also allowed me to install them in multiple locations which has also deterred wasps from building nests as well.

Actually WORKS for all kinds of unwanted bees, wasps
Every spring the battle starts; wasps building nests in the corners of my porches. Mud bees. Carpenter bees. Wasps also build under the arms of my wicker furniture. I’ve tried all the natural products like peppermint oil. I resorted to keeping my furniture flipped upside down unless we were using it, and using wasp spray on the nests. Last year I didn’t have one wasp nest. But I did have a hornets nest hanging in my tree. I read wasps don’t build near a hornets nest. This year when the wasps starting building I gave this paper decoy nest a try. I hung it on one of my porches and the wasps left within a few days and have been gone for a month now. It’s the easies, cheapest way to keep wasps and other bees away from your dwelling.

Well Made
The decoys are made of a durable plastic with good coloration. We tried them to ward off carpenter bees. The carpenter bees had already taken up residence when we hung the decoy. The decoy did not scare off the carpenter bees. It may be that the decoy needs to be in place before the carpenter bees arrive.

Very effective
We always have wasp problems in the summer. I was very skeptical that these fake nests would work, but to my surprise, they have been highly effective. I put them up in four locations (far from each other) on my property and have had probably a 90% reduction in wasp issues.
