My son has another one of these that is foam... I thought this one would be foam as well... nope, it is very hard plastic. I would not recommend for kids that will use it to hit things, it will leave dents in your walls.

Cool, plastic sword
Really cool looking, and a good size for teens and kids. I've had it for over a year, and it only has a few paint scratches nothing too big. Will definitely hurt if you get wacked with it, so consider yourself warned if you're planning on giving it to a toddler.

If you have a child that plays hard and you're worried about it breaking, you should get this one because NOTHING is happening to this thing. (It is Hard Plastic type material) My son loves it and we play with it all the time. If, it gets dirty it is super easy to clean too! (For all the outdoor kiddos)
