It is used to remove iron based black sands or magnetite from your concentrate material that can be a real chore. It makes your fine gold recovery much easier. Works best dry, but will work wet as well. **Q: What is the little squirter bottle for?** A: The snifter is used after you’ve panned down to gold or nearly so to help with extraction from your mineral deposit **Q: So the question nobody's asked is which is better at recovering gold.... I would think the alum with mat?** A: I haven’t tried mine yet. I would bet they’re equally good because one catches nuggets the other fine gold.
