A wonderful addition to the series.
Murder and mayhem at the senior home. The plot was twisty. The characters are great. I can't wait to read the next book!

Surely the death of a old mobster at the retirement center was an outside job....
I think Lexy was beyond shocked to learn one of her grandma's friends was involved with a man at the retirement center who used to be a mobster...and that he'd been murdered in his room. That made for a pretty scary investigation as thugs appeared around town. Nans, Lexy and the ladies were sure they were mob guys.To make it even worse, an old "friend" of Jack's named Simone appeared in town. Even though Lexy knew Jack was committed to their engagement, it still bugged her to see him with this gorgeous woman, but later she'd find out why she was in town. Lexy and friends got to show their ingenuity and had a pretty funny scene with some thugs in an old storage room. It was hilarious what they did to the crooks. Never underestimate a granny! ;)Everything was explained at the end like always, and it led into the next book being a woodsy cabin getaway. What could go wrong there, right?

Fun
The one time Lexy Baker is NOT trying to insert herself into an investigation, they pull her right in anyway! And anyone who thinks overseeing four little old ladies is a walk in the park has never tried to wrangle this geriatric foursome! The mystery is lighthearted fun, and the characters are delightful.

Meh - Not a Favorite
This is the second book I have read in this series. I wasn't crazy about the first one I read, but I like to read a second book before deciding if the series is worth further reading. I won't be reading other titles in this particular series. The main character, Lexy, is just okay. I guess I am just tired of main female characters in many of the "cozy mystery" types of books being so insecure in their relationships with their boyfriends/fiances. Their stomachs are always (pick one), "roiling". "churning", "flip-flopping" or "clenching" every time they see their guy (usually the local detective, sheriff, or police chief) interacting with another female as they assume the worst. What do they expect - their law enforcement guy should only talk to other guys in the line of duty? In this book, Lexy happens to see her fiance detective with another woman, and immediately assumes that he is interested in this woman. Lexy is engaged to this guy - so where is the level of trust and security in the relationship to just sit down and talk about it? I know this is fiction, but if an author is trying to write about independent women who can run a business and solve crimes, then they need to be strong enough to handle their personal relationships too. On the plus side, I did like her grandmother and her grandmother's friends as they worked to figure out who committed the murder of one of the residents in the retirement home. And I do plan on trying the brownie recipe the author gives us at the end of the book.

Great characters
This is my fifth book by Leighann Dobbs. I really enjoyed them all so far. I must admit I started this series of books because it included Sprinkles (Lexy's cute little dog) and I stayed for the mysteries and Lexy's adorable grandmother and friends.

Light read
This is a light, sometimes amusing story . It is actually a tongue in cheek mystery. I do hope books like these do not encourage any other civilian to investigate a murder.

Delightful Book
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. It was full of suspense and wasn't sure who the suspect was. I am enjoying the romance between Lazy and Jack.

The Bad Guys Sweet?
A couple mysteries going on. Poor Lexy, she is so insecure. She just needs to trust that hunk she is engaged to. FBI? New character in the future?Lynn

Book 5
The best thing today is just "YUMM"! Lexy Baker's mysteries are well written, filled with good characters, stories, humour filled and not always easy to figure out! Enjoy the recipe at the end too, it's devine!

Levy baker
This is book five in the series and I have enjoyed it as much as book one, which is why I have given it a five star rating.I don't usually read one book after another but can't wait to read the next story. It is a series I would recommend as it keeps you reading and I can't believe how quickly I come to the end of each book. I have to go and read the next instalment of Lexy's life with her gran.

Fun to read in the sun
Recommend this book to anyone who is going away on holiday. The writing is isn't too bad and the storyline zips along quite well. Would certainly keep an eye out for other titles in the series.
