Great idea, sturdy, well built but too small for a regular plate. This would be fine for a beverage and very small plate/bowl.

It’s perfect!

Note that it *will* leave a mark on both sides of your sofa arm. I’ve added a small throw blanket folded up underneath the clamps. Hopefully it won’t leave a permanent mark. But really, I don’t imagine I’ll ever *not* have it placed there, I guess it doesn’t really matter.
