very cool
I just got my 8oz blending bowls and have already made a small batch of peanut butter. I am really jazzed about these. I eat a whole food plant based diet with no added oils (WFPBD no oils), so I use my Vitamix a lot. I'm also single, so the idea of 8 and 20 oz containers is what steered me towards the Ascent model. I made peanut butter right out of the box, took me less than a minute and it was beautifully creamy from just peanuts (i.e., no added oil). I had to stop the blender once and shake the powdered contents back onto the blades, that's sort of the equivalent of using a tamper I guess, no hassle at all, just part of the process. The newer bowls come with arrow stickers. The cynic in me thinks that the whole magnet thing is an attempt by Vitamix to make proprietary and blender specific parts in order to sell more stuff, idk, but apparently it initially came back and bit them because the arrows that need to be alined were virtually invisible. The newer ones ship with stickers that kinda shout "right here stupid." I don't know why Vitamix has an aversion to paint, they seem to love the clear on clear theme, despite all the customers who have pleaded for them to put stuff like level marks in a contrasting color so we can actually see the marks instead of just embossing it on the plastic. Same with the arrows, definitely a design flaw.I give this product 4 stars because of the clear arrows (stickers are not a "fix," that's cheesy and cheap), magnet design and price. I think the general functionality is going to be good and very useful.Overall, I think these are going to be a very cool addition to the Vitamix system. I still have a lot of playing to do, but I think these will work and the learning curve doesn't seem steep. It's a tool, not an automaton, i don't expect it to do everything without my help. I've only made peanut butter so far, but that's a good measure in my book. Peanut butter is hard to blend because, well, it's peanut butter. It goes from a sort of flour consistency (the point at which i stopped the blender and shook the contents from the side back onto the blade), after that it went to the sticky consistency of "butter" in no time at all. Honestly, it was kinda thrilling to watch. Forget adding extra fat (i.e., "oil") in order to make it a 'wet' blend to avoid stopping and shaking the contents when it hits the 'nut flour' stage, it's totally unnecessary. I only used about 4 ounces of nuts and that reduced to about 2 ounces of butter. All things being equal, I'm very pleased at this point.Oh, I also have a 20 oz cup to use with the blade attachment, i suspect that will come in handy making slightly larger quantities other than smoothies. I can already see uses for a 12 oz cup. :-)

works great
I have been hesitant to buy these, but as my old cat needs help chewing her food, I splurged. So far, I am only blending wet cat food, but I can see them being useful to make sauces and baby food. I have a new machine that senses the containers, so make sure you are not trying to use these with the older 7500 machines. Also, the first time I used it, it did not register on my machine. The instructions say to make the lid tighter, and that worked. I have not had an issue since.

It does small batches for sure
This is a sturdy and feels a bit heavy-duty container. It does salsas, dips, small batches of smoothie (as long as you read the instruction or look at videos on how to set it up properly so it blends the way it's supposed to), baby, and creating your own small batches of spice blends. It says it clearly not to use hot liquids in this container, even though it's double-wall insulated, I think it's more of a safety hazard. I've read numerous complaints about matching up the arrows. I don't know what the big deal was, but, the base of the container is a bit heavy which is a good thing. You can tell it's well constructed and won't easily crack or deteriorate any time soon. I'm guessing cause it probably contains the chip or whatever parts it requires for the base to recognize this container. Going back to the arrows, it was easy for me to line it up. I wouldn't do an exact lineup and it was pretty tight. Perhaps with liquids, get it close to the arrows lining up, but, when I tested the container with just water. It was pretty easy to detect, blend, without any difficulties. No leaks, it takes a bit of torque to tighten and to loosen. So perhaps for people who have difficulty with this, perhaps this wouldn't be for you. What I'm trying to say is that, for the price, you can get a nutribullet which can the things this machine can do. Just at a lesser power, not as smooth as of a blend as the Vitamix, but, it will work. Since it's within the price range. I own both so I'm fine with either. Anyway, I'll experiment with it and may update it if there is something worth talking about. Good thing about this 2 containers with blade is, you can purchase this once, then if you want the 20 oz as well, you can get that but, that's roughly close $23.99 that I saw recently on Amazon and $29.99 standard price. Just for the container without blade. So it's sort of a deal, but, I hope Vitamix will lower the price of these containers as time goes on, cause, although it's good quality, but, it makes me not want to invest in more containers. They are quite pricey and just having 1 or 2 of each is good enough for me. I can settle for storing the blends of spices or whatever in different containers. That's just me.

Good purchase
I often find that I want to process a small amount of something. These 8 ounce cups are perfect for my needs. Easy to uses and extremely powerful when used with my vitamin. I bought some mini-silicone spatulas to make scraping out the last bit of sauce easier. Cleanup is a cinch. Just add water and a drop of dish soap and run the cleaning cycle.4 stars only because of price.I'd also like to see an 16 ounce version

It works by tightening it some more when placed on the main blender till 0:00 appears.
I use it to grind coffee, and in the future make my own nut butters. I like using it in blending spices and ingredients the way some cultures use mortar and pestle so I wish a bit bigger. I’ll try to use the to go tumbler for smoothie next time to blend spices.Use the base blender as well to loosen it slightly by turning counter clockwise.

Works Great until Warrenty is Up
I love using the blender base for smoothies and making baby food. It worked flawlessly for 3 years and 8 months. Then, the plastic melted and the blade no longer turned. I opened it up and the blade had completely melted the plastic. It actually makes me wonder if melted plastic particle seeped into my baby's food. The vitamix itself comes with a 10 year warranty. But if you buy these accessories separately the warranty is only three years. How convenient. This isn't the kind of reliability I expected from Vitamix. If I had paid $30 bucks for it, I would have given it 5 stars.
