My mother has an 18 foot oval above ground pool. The pool is maybe 4.5 feet deep. After opening the pool this season, we noticed the factory pump housing was cracked at the debris basket area, and was leaking. It also was held together with a ratchet strap. I was looking for a replacement electric pump that would work. Local pool stores were quoting me 400 to 500 dollars for a replacement. I found this Vevor 1.5 HP pump on Amazon. For the price, I am thoroughly impressed. The build quality on the pump is great. The pump operates with out a hitch and is super quiet to run. This Vevor pump actually works better and is more powerful than the Hayward pump I replaced it with. For approximately 120 dollars, you can’t go wrong!

Old pump failed (overheats and shuts off). It took about 40 minutes to swap with this new one. I used the old electrical chores. The pump works GREAT! Highly recommend.

It installed, and it’s quite. It uses different couplings than any of the brand name units it’s replacing, but for a fraction of the cost, it’s worth it. I will see how long this thing last befote I commit to 5 stars.

Have an above ground very large swimming pool since 2014, I have replaced the pump about every 3-4 years when it either stops running (tripping the breaker), or anything else that warrants me to replace it. It is an outdoor item, sits in the sun, and we keep it on 24/7 until she stops. 3-4 years is exactly what $130 feels like to me, I love it. Easy to replace. I have literally purchased 4 of these in the last 12 years and it is worth every penny. Will purchase another one in 3-4 more years! My local swim shop wants $400-500 for exact same pump, different brand. This one will arrive in 3 days.

I was reluctant to buy this pump as in the past I’ve always used Haywood but so far this pump is doing the job and the price is great

I put the pump next to my pool and provided separate suction and discharge pipe (and did not use my normal piping). The discharge pipe was below the water level, so I could easily see the air that left the pump. Of course, when you prime the pump, there will be air in the discharge. The water did not go through the filter or the normal piping for the pool. When the pump was located next to the pool at an elevation of 12" above the water level, it was able to prime after about 5 minutes and then pumped very well - there was 0 air in the discharge water. When I increased the elevation to 16", it was not able to prime. Indeed, it appeared that there was an air leak in the body of the pump, which was caused by a loose fitting. It was not able to tighten and remove the leak. Once the pump was pumping water at full flow, there was no air leak. But, when it was priming and there was a small water flow, there was significant air bubbles in the small discharge. I could tell this because the discharge pipe was below the water level. I would deem this pump to be unacceptable for any in-ground pool. However, if you have an above ground pool, it would work very well, since it would never have to prime.

this is a good pump but only one problem that realy makes me mad:it does not prime by itself.so if you put this on a timer to save energy,you are screwed.Idon't know what could be the problem because they say it doe's prime by itself but it does not.so that is a piss off.
