A serviceable bottle of party fizz
If you're buying a bottle of not-champagne for around 12quid, you'll have certain expectations of what it is going to be like, and this bottle of Pongracz is exactly that. No fuss, no frills, no explosions of flavour, but a really drinkable bottle of fizz.It foams up slightly alarmingly on pouring, but settles down with plenty of bubbles. No tiny bulles but not can of cola level either. It's quite sweet to my taste, with a sharp mouthfeel, and not as creamy as you might expect. Analysing it to this degree is pointless though, as this isn't a bottle to dissect as you drink in a quiet room. This is decent party bubbly and it's good enough for the wine snobs to drink without wrinkling their noses and the rest of your guests won't care anyway. The bottle itself is a handsome beast with a nice bit of heft to it, and the cork pops out with a satisfying amount of resistance and a impressive amount of noise. It's perfect for parties and picnics, pleasant to drink and a good price, and I will be buying more.

Truly not bad for the price
At the time of this review this bottle of fizz is £11.20. Now for the price as you would be able to tell it isnt the best fizz, but it truly isn’t the worst either. It’s an okay bottle that would do in a push or for those times that you decide last minute that you need to bust a bottle open. Overall quite impressed really especially with price considered. Not a bad present for someone if you have a limited budget.

Very tasty
Great sparkling drink for a reasonable price.Very tasty ( needs to be cold), refreshing, and not too sweet or sour. Also not strong and no heading next day.Bottle looks great. Highly recommend to try.Unfortunately not long lasting 😂

Not too far from the favourites
Until a few years ago when you came to think of sparkling white wine there was only one region that people talked about. With Italy now having firmly muscled in at least in the UK, South Africa also wants a piece of that action. I tried this product of the Stellenbosch vineyards to see how it would fair. The bottle itself is pretty typical of the category, a nice shape with a classic label and covered cork. The wine itself is fully sparkling and relatively more yellow in colour than others you might be used to. There is a medium level of acidity and body with some fruity flavours. It's reasonably easy drinking but the body and acidity sets it apart from a prosecco.Overall then if you fancy trying something a little but not too different from your usual sparkling white this is a good one to check out.

So much better than Prosecco
The media could not be loaded. Â You'll notice the empty glass in my video.. I had all intentions of taking a video of the actual wine but it was too easy to drink and well, my video is the next day of the empty bottle and dishwasher clean glass!!I'm not a prosecco lover, in fact give me a nice red any day but this Pongracz was deliciously light, crisp and had a nice smooth bubble. Can just imagine chilled strawberry bobbing about in it on a nice warm summer evening.. or just as good on a fresh October evening with a selection of antipasti around the dining table.. or even with warm socks, fluffy pj's a box of choccies and a movie!I think you get that I really liked this Pongracz though the name may take a bit of getting used to.

Good
This wine is a chardonnay/ pinot noir hybrid. I understand that it's South African. It has a nice colour, more yellow than golden, and the bubbles deliver a tight, crisp wine. It has a fruity, yeast scent, that reminds me of a classic perry, indeed, the fruity note is very pear like. The yeasty odour is reminiscent of buttery bread, but there's little sweetness here. The wine is dry to the point of acidity, not vinegary, but sharp and not entirely pleasant. For the price, I'd expected something more well rounded. It's the sort of thing I would buy as a present, as it is better than most cava or prosecco, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.

Doesn't need to cost the earth
A bottle of fizz doesn't need to cost a fortune for it to be enjoyed. This is a nice bottle to have at a dinner party, a gathering could make a nice gift for someone for birthday anniversary as its a nice looking /shape bottle.I'm not a huge fizz drinker so not alot.to compare it to and I always like to add fresh orange in to make the classic bucks fizz.Nice and sweet mixed with the orange. It frothed up quite a bit when pouring so I would recommend a slow pour.We all enjoyed it on a warm day with our meal best served chilled from the fridge.Add a couple.pueces of fresh fruit in there like strawberrys to make it look a bit fancier at partys.
