Great for pushing fireplace heat around house
The fan is a little loud, but that's okay cause it does push a good amount of air and moves the heat around. My fireplace is in the living room. I try to route the heat from the living room (345 sqft) to the kitchen (80 sqft) to the dining room (100 sq ft) and splits to two bedrooms from the dining room. I have one of these fans between the living room and kitchen, and then 1 between each bedroom/dining room (3 total). My house doesn't have the best attic insulation, but the fans do seem to help push the heat around. With an outside temp of around 30 F, from the time the fire is established, it takes around 2-3 hours for the bedrooms to start feeling a significant temperature increase. Without the fans, it could take almost double that time.

Great for moving air, but very loud
I bought this fan because in our apartment we have just one natural gas heater in our living room as the source of heat for the entire apartment and needed to distribute the heat to the back rooms. The fan does it's job and distributes the heat very well. My only complaint and the reason for not giving 5 stars is that when the fan is running it is very loud so we just run it either when we're not home or at night when we go to bed.

This fan works great
I purchased this fan to draw cool air from an awkwardly placed swamp cooler down a wing of our old farm house. So far it is working just fine and we do not find it to be any louder than the tower fan we had sitting in the hallway before; the fact I do not have to worry about someone falling over the floor fan anymore is wonderful. I am back to purchase 2 more of these fans for other area's of the house. While it is true that the corner door fan does not pull as much air as the 4 foot tall tower fan, I feel the tradeoff in safety is worth it. I only have 2 complaints; 1. the cord is not quite long enough and I had to use an extension cord and 2. Because the fan has squared corners and my old house is anything BUT square, you can really see how crooked my door frame is!!!

Made it three years; here's how I fixed it
I use this fan for a very specific purpose: to dispel humidity from a small interior room (no windows). For that, it works fine. I found the noise level to be acceptable, as I use it in 30 minute bursts, not for hours on end.Three years after purchase, it became quite noisy and wasn't moving much air. I assumed it was the motor getting cranky after the years of moisture. So I took it apart (it may be cheap, but at least they used real screws!). Turns out the motor was fine; it was the fan blades that were the problem. The fan blades are a single plastic unit that fit over the motor shaft. It's just a friction fit: nothing's really holding it on there. And I found that the plastic had a crack running right through the middle. The crack ran through the hole, so the fit was no longer tight, hence the noise and poor performance. It's a really dumb design, considering they didn't even need to add any extra parts to prevent the problem. Take a look at your microwave turntable motor to see what I mean.Anyway, I happened to have some Bondic handy (also picked up from Amazon). Here's what I did, YMMV:1) Unplug the cord and open the housing. Slide off the fan blades.2) Apply the Bondic in a line over the crack, especially near the mounting hole.3) While squeezing the crack together, hit it with the UV light to harden.4) Fit the blades over the motor shaft. It should be tight-ish.5) Fill the top of the mounting hole with a bit more Bondic. Slide the blades up and down so that some of the Bondic will seep down a bit (but not all the way to the motor)6) Hit it with the UV light again to harden. The blades should now be affixed to the motor shaft.Yeah, I know it's plastic and will eventually break again, but it's working like new for now. Or at least like when it was new for me; other reviewers complaining about noise may have unknowingly had cracked fan blades.

Lasts many years.
This is our second fan like this. Same exact one. The first one lasted about 20 years. Actually I think it still works. Just needs to be cleaned. Does the job of blowing warm air to the back of the house. A little loud but that’s because we live in a small house. Well worth the money.

Dead Day 2
Just unpacked it and hung it. Worked well for the first day, seems a bit loud for the size but it did its job temporarily quite well. Had it on and was working near it and then it got quiet. Walked over, flipped the switch a few times - no response. It felt warm to the touch but not hot - but I tried a few different outlets and the unit is now stone dead. Contacting Amazon for a return.

Small Fan Is a Workhorse!
I recently purchased my third unit over the last 12 years. Wood is my main source of heat, and I need to move the heated air in order to balance the warmth between the main room and the bedrooms/kitchen. This little fan does the trick. Within minutes, one can feel the warm air being pulled through the fan. For its size, the fan is powerful, which results in the noise others have commented on in their reviews. Here's a little trick if you want to quickly cool down the room where your wood stove is located. The company has conveniently added screw slots on the two solid sides of the unit (I installed the screws on the side of the door jamb). Simply remove the unit from the wall, turn it so the fan blows the opposite way, and slide the unit back onto the screws (the slots that were on top are now on the side). The cool air will now blow into the hotter room. One more tip: You can extend the life of the unit by taking it apart and cleaning it. I run mine continuously during the cool and cold seasons (I am in Montana, so that is eight to nine months out of the year) and I found this little trick keeps the fan running. I keep buying the same unit because they are workhorses. Five stars

Good quality
I like this fan. We have used the same brand for many years. I bought the old one from Canadian Tire, but they don’t seem to stock them anymore. This one was less expensive and works great.

Very good quality
Very good quality and excellent value but a little loud. My parents have the same problem with one they purchases from a fireplace store though that they paid 3x the price for so all things considered - still excellent value and well made, easy to install.

Good Fan and I recommend for a simple room to room set-up
Introduction:I recently installed a wood burning fireplace insert and stove in my home. The house is a bungalow with finished basement and is fairly old but in great condition for its age. Being the age that it is and a bungalow, the style at the time that it was built was many rooms with doors which meant that I had a problem with heat flowing between room. I decided to purchase the doorway fan after not being that successful using a ceiling fan, because I wanted to balance the heat in several rooms both on the main level where the wood insert is located and in the basement where there is the stove. This fan worked great in a doorway that separated the living room and dining room from a hall way that lead to the bedroom, in balancing the heat from the wood insert in the living room to the adjoining dining room and pushing some heat into the hall way. Prior to the install, the heat moving form the living room to the dining room took longer but with this install it was much faster. That said, I did not get the expected raise in temperature I wanted in the far side of my hallway but I suspected that woudl be the case because the layout is not conducive to proper air flow. What I will do next with a second doorway fan is place it on the far side of the hallway and see if that will improve the heat dissipation better...I will update my review when that time comes.I then used the fan in my basement with the wood stove. The basement is an open concept with one large bedroom taking up one side. The problem that I have is getting the heat to flow down a small hallway to that basement bedroom which is about 450 sq ft in size. I tried the fan in the bedroom door way but the temperature increase was not significant at all and i concluded that this would not work for the setup in my basement. Not necessarily a fault of the fan but rather an issue with my set-up. I would need something more powerful. All that said, I so far have to issues with the fan. It worked quite well for balancing the heat in my living room and dining room so I was please with that. The fan is not whisper quite but rather more like an old PC fan. It did not bother me but for some people who are more sensitive to background noise this may be an issue. For me it was just white noise and I was ok with it. I would recommend this product if you wanted to distribute heat between two rooms that did not have any other barriers in between.Likes/Pros: - Was easy for me to install. - Was strong enough to move air between two rooms.Dislikes/Cons; - A bit large...would have been nice if it could be more streamline for looks. - You cannot reverse the direction of the fan or move where the power cord exits the fan body, so depending on your setup and where best to position the fan (i.e. which side of door frame, left or right, such as in my case) , you may find that the power cord ends up coming from the top as opposed the bottom as is shown on the photo. - In as much as it did not bother me, the fan could have been quieter.Summary:This fan will work great for balancing air between two rooms in a simple set-up however for more complex set-ups or where there is quite a large space and distance from the heat source it may not be powerful enough. Some people may find that the sound of the fan does not bother them others may not...the fan sounds like a desktop tower PC fan. Would have been nice if the fan was reversible or the power cord could be moved. For my purposes I am giving it three stars.

Being able to order this fan
We put it in the corner of the door to bring heat from the pellet stove to the upstairs. Works perfectly
