I bought this as an equipment storage case, no intention to decorate or finish it. What I received is accurately made, no imperfections worth mentioning. It doesn't have a cheap look at all. Yeah, I suppose the material is a little thin, might split if dropped.

First one I received was cracked. Replaced quickly!

This box is very well made, handy as the dickens. Edges and joints are perfect and hardware remounted very well after I took off hinges and latch for staining. Only one issue: the glue used to cement the joints inside keeps stain from penetrating near those joints. If you're picky about how the inside will look you might just paint it inside.

It is a nice box. Works as sold.

the wood split on the top lid. Otherwise fit and finish was as described. I'm going to try to apply some wood glue as filler as I intend to line the inside with felt anyway

Bought for my husband who needed a box with a lock for his personal belongings. He did not want kids getting into and this has worked perfectly!!

Used as art

This box it was an absolute disaster. As soon as I took it out of the packaging, it literally fell apart. When I opened the lid, the whole thing just disintegrated in my hands. The joints were poorly glued with no fasteners used at all. The wood felt incredibly flimsy, almost like it was made of balsa wood. This product is a complete waste of money and time. Avoid at all costs!
