Can a man have two loves?
First let's get the obvious out of the way. Much like if it's not from Kentucky it isn't really Bourbon, if they're not from South Carolina they aren't really grits. (I'm not now or have I ever been a resident of South Carolina.) Until my first fork full of Marsh Hen Mills grits, I would have told you there was no reason to eat anything except for the products from Palmetto Farms. These grits are equally amazing. They have more texture and are just as flavorful. I would say (definitely not an expert in grits) the Marsh Hen Mills are better simply prepared. Adding little or nothing to hide the flavor or texture. As simple as butter, salt and pepper. The Palmetto Farms are better in more complex recipes such as Shrimp and Grits. However, they both have the flavor to do either. So, my favorite grits are Palmetto Farms and also Marsh Hen Mill. Our relationship will be complicated, but I know we can work it out.

Best grits!
I had these when I was in Charleston so I knew they were great. Made shrimp and grits for Easter and it was perfect.

What grits are supposed to taste like.
I first had Marsh Hen grits, served with pimento cheese, at a restaurant in South Carolina and was happy to find I could order them on Amazon. They're a bit pricey, but have excellent flavor and a coarse-ground texture (they aren't called grits for nothing). The package does not give cooking directions, so be aware that they will take longer to cook than typical supermarket grits. I cook them on the Porridge setting in my rice cooker, using a 4:1 ratio of water to grits. An occasional stir helps, as does allowing them to stand for about 10 minutes after cooking stops.

Best grits you can ever buy
These are the only grits we want to eat now. We love them the very best. We are from Louisiana. We know our grits.

Best Grits
We eat grits all the time. Very much enjoy the Marsh Hen Mill Stone Ground Speckled Grits. Does take longer to cook compared to the 5min grits found in local grocery stores. Nonetheless, it's worth the extended cooking time. Highly recommend.

Best grits ever! Extra points for being gluten free!
I have been searching for "good" gluten free grits ever since I switched to a gluten free diet several years ago. I've tried several brands but they were all ground too fine - more like polenta. Just tried these this morning and they are PERFECT! Just like I grew up eating in S.C.As others have said, there are no instructions. I used one cup grits to four cups liquid (half water and half milk), two generous pinches of salt, and simmered on low, covered, for 20 minutes. Add butter and serve!

Chewy
These were not the red corn speckled grits described and when I followed the cooking instructions 20-25 min)they tasted uncooked still. I had to mill them a few seconds to get a finer grain and a smoother cook. I have had stone ground grits of other brands but none as course as these. If you like extra course grits these are for you.
