## Description

Writer Tim Seeley ( Grayson ), artist Marcus To ( Red Robin ) and colorist Chris Sotomayor ( Birds Of Prey ) take Dick Grayson from Gotham City to a whole new stomping ground in Nightwing Volume 2: Back To Blüdhaven . No sooner did the former super-spy take up his old mantle as Batman’s ally Nightwing than he was forced to fight for the soul of Gotham City during the Night of the Monster Men—then do battle with Raptor, the new mentor he thought he could trust. Not even Superman can help him escape the nightmare. So Nightwing takes off for the neighboring city of Blüdhaven, hoping to find a fresh start. Instead, he finds old foes who’ve waited years for payback against the one-time Boy Wonder. And Blüdhaven holds bloodier horrors. A serial killer stalks the streets, framing Nightwing for crimes he didn’t commit. His only hope to catch the killer and clear his name: teaming up with his sworn enemies. If he succeeds, he can be this strange new city’s greatest guardian. If he fails, the blood in Blüdhaven will be his own… Collects Nightwing #9-15!

Review: One of my favorite characters - Dick and the rest of the bat family just get better and better. Plus, Nightwing is the only superhero who actually grew up wearing tights and flipping around for a reason other than fighting bad guys, and the artwork really reflects this (probably more if you partner it with the Spyral comic and other post-rebirth dc titles). Nightwing is sweet and funny and just a little naughty sometimes. Always worth reading.
Review: Nightwing back in town - Really good story! I love that he’s is back in Bludhaven! I love the new love interest all around it’s a great read!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bringing some familiarity back to the Nightwing title, Seeley asks us to examine how we're ALL trying to make our lives better.

Bringing old school fans some familiarity back to their favorite sidekick turned man out on his own. Story: After tangling with Dr. Destiny, Dick with advice from Superman, heads to Bludhaven, Gotham's Southern neighbor to find out who he is outside of the superhero game, but it's not long at all before Dick has to put on the tights to go fight crime. I have to admit, this book did not go AT ALL how I was expecting. Dick volunteers for a community group, helping former criminals, all who were driven from Gotham by Nightwing! This group, the Run-Offs (What? Is this supposed to be DC's answer to Marvel's Runaways?!), is an interesting cast. There's a nice bit with Dick seemingly using these former criminals, each still possessing their old costumes, to try and solve a murder spree, being committed by someone who is seemingly setting up members of the Run-Offs. This serial killer villain has something of an interesting backstory: he claims to allow his victims, all former criminals, to see the monster in the mirror before he kills them. I actually successfully predicted who the killer was a couple pages before he is revealed, but that's okay. The lack of surprise was made up to me with a good, but small monologue from the villain about how he reflects Dick. All the while Dick is struggling to work out a romantic relationship that we see bloom in the pages of this tale. That last issue was mostly talking, but it had a good narrative, a good pace, and some interesting setup for the future. I have no idea what the last panel in the last two issues means, but I can't wait to find out! It seems like Dick has had a lot of girlfriends, and it is a little surprising to see him caught up with a former criminal, when he could be with Batgirl or Starfire, two full fledged superheroes. Sometimes it seems that writers can't decide who Dick's main love interest should be. There's some other subplots here, but I don't want to spoil those. But, it's good stuff. This is a good read about a man trying to find himself in a new home, sort of a "starting over" kind of story. Art: Marcus To's art is good. I prefer Javier Fernandez, but To isn't bad at all. They both have styles that are great for this book. I'm absolutely loving the coloring by Chris Sotomayor! The shade of blue he chooses for Nightwing's costume really pops out in all scenes. Bludhaven is lit up by neon signs, though I felt some scenery of the cityscape felt a little muted. But, only slightly. There is some serious color contrast going on between the Nightwing scenes, and the community center scenes. A huge contrast between the night, and the brightly lit rooms of the center. Like most DC Rebirth books, the artists are all appropriate for their titles. The art here reflects the dark nature of a Batman family book, but also has enough elements to visually show off the fun nature of Nightwing. Overall: A decent murder mystery with Dick trying to find himself in a new home, a new base of operations. I'd also have to call this a story of forgiveness, something that's darn hard to do, but Nightwing, seemingly with his super powers of rallying and bringing together, manages to bring about the best in people who are trying to get their lives back on track. There's some great cameos from Superman, Wally West, and Starfire. This is shaping up to be a great title. Looking forward to volume 3.
