Purchase as a gift for my daughter
I purchase one of these a few years ago for my own use and after my daughter brought a new Nikon camera herself, I purchased this as a gift for her. I've found this to be a very useful and reliable remote control for my Nikon D90 and D7000 for several years now. The quality is very good and the battery has so far, lasted since my purchase. The case that comes with it is easily attached to your camera strap for fast access. I've used this for pictures of birds, setting my camera on a tripod outside my window and arranging the camera so i could get a clear view of the front in order to use the remote control, but out of site of the birds in order to not scare them away. I've found this remote very useful in many different types of situations. Photos of you in the photo are easy to take and still be able to conceal the remote while taking the photo. due to it's size. I would recommend this item for anyone who requires an easy to use and concealable remote.

Works
Product works but I was disappointed with the shipping. I bought 7 for a photography class and they shipped each tiny little remote in it's own huge box! 7 of them wouldn't even take up half of one of the boxes. Wasteful shipping!

Easy and convenient
Easy to use and doesn’t require any programming. I’ll pulled it out the package and turned on the settings on my camera to receive the connection and it was instant success!!

does not work reliably with Nikon D70
I tried using this with a Nikon D70. Very unpredictable. Sometimes it'll work 2 or 3 shots in a row, sometimes nothing. Not sure whether the fault is with the remote device, camera or both, it's just not usable. Timed exposure photography is very important to me, so I just ordered a Nikon D7000 with cable release that is actually a cable, not infrared.

Great little remote! Excellent Price
I just received my remote from FotoTech. For the record, it is my first ever remote purchase so I have nothing to compare it to, but it is exactly what I needed. It's light and easy to use. It arrived very quickly. I thought it was strange that there were no instructions on how to sync the remote with your camera. There was a small paper that recommended that we look at the owners manual for the camera. I looked it up on the world wide web and in a matter of two minutes I was operating the remote control like a pro! (It's pretty easy since there is only one button). The remote has a good range. I practiced at about 12 feet back. It worked perfectly. Just for information, you sync the remote by changing the release mode on your camera to operate by remote or timed remote. Easy, Easy!

Works perfectly with Nikon D5200
Any time you have to take a picture of a group, the worst thing in the world is having someone press the shutter release and then run back to the group to barely make it in time. After going through this process yet again on a church retreat last week, I decided to order the FotoTech FTML-L3 remote and give it a try. Suffice it to say, I am pleasantly surprised with how well this remote works. I am not a professional photographer, only a hobbyist. And I am using this remote with a Nikon D5200 DSLR camera. Essentially, the FTML-L3 works exactly like it should. It is my understanding that the remote operates using infrared (IR) light, much like a standard television remote. So you should think about it in those terms. In general, the remote transmitter must be able to "see" the camera in order to work (though I was able to use it in a very short range with an obstruction). With a clear line-of-sight, I was able to get the remote to work at least 10 ft away from the camera. I would guess it is capable of much more than that, but 10 ft is enough for my general purposes. One quick tip: If you are using the D5200 (and I'm assuming other cameras are similar), you MUST change the shutter release mode on the camera to respond to the remote. If you don't, nothing will happen when you press the button on the remote. I have seen a couple of places where customers thought the remote didn't work, but they had simply failed to change the shutter release mode on their cameras. On the D5200, changing this mode is simple. The first (and simplest) method of doing this is to press the "Release Mode" button near the mode dial (it has what looks like three stacked rectangles on it). This will open a menu which will allow you to change the way the camera shutter is released, including two options for using the remote (immediate and delayed release). An alternate method is to go through the Settings Menu ("MENU" button) under the "Shooting Menu" (camera icon) and change the "Release mode" setting. This will present you the same options as the first method. All in all, this product is exactly what I needed. I'm looking forward to the next time I need to take a group photo and no one has to do the dreaded race back to formation.

Does it really work?
This product is great for photography of yourself if you don’t have a partner or a friend to assist. The one flaw is that it works extremely slow. I would hold and press it to get more photos but sometimes it doesn’t register making it hard to take many photos.

One of the main reasons I bought the Nikon brand ML-L3 remote was to get started with portraits. Having no friends threw a wrench in my plan. The wireless remote was fantastic -- it allowed me to take photos of myself without having to hazardously leap through the obstacle course that is my room and attempt to strike a pose before the timed camera went off (or, I lost track of time and snapped a photo of the puzzled expression on my face). Unfortunately, I lost my remote and, while only having one pair of eyes, my search was arduous and fruitless. I was back at square one; I was faced again with my original dilemma: make friends or dash in front of the camera and risk an out-of-focus shot. I came across the FotoTech ML-L3 Wireless Remote and I couldn't be more pleased; the product is almost identical to the original (only slightly thicker and less rounded) and functions just as well. Now, I can return to taking studio-quality, #notevenposing selfies that leave the smart phone-using hipsters envious and wanting.

Recomendable 100%
