Seachem Matrix Bio Media 500ml

Works great.

I would like to begin by saying that I am a big fan of SeaChem products. With that being said, for me, "the jury is still out" in regards to its effectiveness. From what I have gathered, these rocks are basically just super-heated pumice rock. It is an inert material that does nothing to the water chemistry other than provide a home for beneficial bacteria. In that regard, for what it does, it is way overpriced.SeaChem does not dispute that Matrix is pumice, but they do claim that there are different grades of pumice. They say that the kind you get at garden centers may not be pure in form and may end up harming more than helping your aquarium.For the price, I think I would be better off purchasing either laboratory-grade pumice rock.At any rate, here are SeaChems thoughts on the matter:" I understand why people look at Matrix and compare it to the pumice they can find at the garden center; they are both porous stones. The difference is that not every porous stone is the same; Matrix is a specific type chosen for its porosity, pore size, durability, and inert nature. When you buy Matrix, you know what you are getting. It has been tested in the lab and in thousand of hobbyist's aquariums for more than a decade with excellent results. You aren't just purchasing the physical material when you buy a container of Matrix; you are purchasing the research which has sourced and tested this specific type of stone, and the assurance that it is safe for use in your aquarium. You also get support when, like now, you have questions about the product or if you need aquarium advice. You can't buy any of those things at a garden center or rock yard.One thing to think about with anything that goes in your tank has to be whether or not it is safe. The term pumice includes many types of stone and not all of them have the same porosity or same chemical makeup. With Matrix, you know it isn’t going to affect your pH or leach anything into your tank."

I love Seachem. I am never without the Prime. I figured I would give Matrix a try as additional media in my filters. I honestly cannot say if it made a difference or not. My water parameters have remained the same. My parameters were not bad when I added this so I can't it helped or didn't. Any extra media is good. Matrix is pretty much Lava rocks so I can't complain.

El product es fantastic, unas cuatro onzas o 110 ml. son suficiente para un aquario de 50 gls. El unico problema es que el product viene incomplete 250 ml = 8.45 oz, Compre dos unidades condicha cantidad en las fotos pueden apreciar la cantidad real del product. La medida en la foto es ml. tal como en el frasco. el peso real del product 179 a 189 ml. ni hablar luego de los calculos me quede corto por mas de 120 ml. = 4.05 oz.

This is our favorite filter media. We have never had problems with tanks crashing or anything like that while using these. I also feel like it has helped keep my tank a little bit clearer and none of our fish have gotten sick since introducing this media.

Seachem always come through! If you're gonna be using any bio media than look no further than the Matrix Bio media. Keeps my 20 gallon tank crystal clear

Great biological media! Purchased for our 40 gallon freshwater aquarium with AquaClear 70 power filter. We combine it with Purigen and a foam block in the filter. We put it in a mesh bag and then place in the filter’s media basket, but the pieces are large enough that they can be used without a bag. Keeps the water clean and water parameters are where they should be. Definitely recommend!
