TRI ELECTRONICS GT-EXPRESS MINI ELECTRONIC GOLD TESTER. With proper care in use this tester works very well. All testers have limitations, but following the instructions given with this unit should provide use as described. This is a tester to be used for quick identification of gold / non-gold, but does an accurate job of identifying 10K or above, 14K or above, and 18K or above. Must be careful with gold filled and plated items. They must be filed or pin punctured to the base metal to get a more accurate test as non-gold, which means any gold piece must be tested the same way to be more accurate which is not always plausible. Refill testing solution is available from Tri Electronics ([...] presently $23.00. There should be pictures of what's included in the box, which is similar to the TRI ELECTRONICS G-24 PORTABLE ELECTRONIC GOLD TESTER. Does include tester, test solution, test board with alligator clip, test lead, Pink Pearl eraser, file and instructions. The box serves as the carrying case which is cutout foam padded. The recessed cupped tip must be wiped cleaned with a paper towel or cotton swab after use. The instructions should inform the user to remove the protective tip cover before use. A great tool for the weekend jewelry warrior. But would probably be used checking the stash after it is brought home. For what it does, it is priced below value.

Not accurate or easy to use as all parts were not packed in box. Replacement ordered and same thing happened again.

This device does not seem to be as accurate as portrayed on the description. It is not the easiest thing to work with as it is very inaccurate.

It does not give a precise gold reading, rather a range. The clip for the gold item is a little difficult to use.

I needed to test jewelry for items that I sell...it was very important that I have an idea if the item was gold or not. This item has helped me tremendously for one item I thought was 14k gold was not and a few other items I thought were gold filled turned out to be 10k & 14k! I tested first with known gold jewelry and it was exact each time. This is such a great little gadget that is SO helpful if you just need to know basic gold ratings. I will definitely invest in other TRI ELECTRONICS products when I am ready to need ot be more accurate. This will also be a great FIELD tester which I think it is intended for...so during my huntings for jewelry I can make sure I am buying what the vendors say. Wish it would tell me if an item is gold filled vs just NOT gold or it told me 8-9k (anything under 10k they say not gold) but I knew it wouldn't when I purchased it...overall GREAT PRODUCT!

It does not do the job for what we want to use it for! I would like to return it as it is a rip off.
