Yellow Bird has a button. It does . . . nothing! It is a good for nothing button. Red Bird and Blue Bird are excited to try the button. But when they press it, they discover that the button makes them happy. Happy is something! A flabbergasted Yellow Bird insists the button does nothing. But it sure does seem to be making him mad. Mad is something! The hilarious debate that follows takes readers on an emotional roller coaster that pokes at the power of imaginative play. Review: Part of another great series - I find this book rather odd, but my 3 year old adores it and finds it funny. The three birds discuss the many different emotions that stem from pressing a button that does "nothing." This book shows different reactions to the same stimulus (the button), introduces the concept of cause and effect, gives a nod to primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and also includes the concept of unintended consequences (the worm and the button). There probably are more educational concepts that I have not mentioned, these are the first I thought of. My child loves the Elephant and Piggie series. Gerald and Piggie introduce and close the story. There is also a surprise visit from Pigeon. We also own the other two books(so far) in this series and enjoy them. I have found that anything to do with Mo Willems is a hit in our house! Review: Best Elephant & Piggie Like Reading Book So Far! - My family loves Mo Willems and we have been enjoying the first two books of the "Elephant & Piggie Like Reading Series." "We Are Growing" and "Cookie Fiasco" are read daily in my house and are quoted from extensively by my kids. Those two books are tough acts to follow, but this book is my favorite so far. My kids haven't seen this yet (because they're still at school), but they love pressing buttons, and I expect that they will read this book repeatedly the moment they see it in the house today. This book combines the fun of pressing the button with the craziness of Mo Willems' "Pigeon" character to make a truly entertaining book. The author, Charise Mericle Harper, fully captured the spirit of Mo Willems' children's books. I highly recommend this book!

These books are good for preschoolers and kindergartners
My grandson who was 5 at the time and now 6 absolutely loves the Piggy and Gerald series of books! I believe they have given him a love for books - we have read everyone and wish the author would keep them coming! My grandson likes to take turns reading the different parts with me, these books are a treasure

As Funny As Elephant & Piggie
My son is a very resistant reader but he loves reading this book. When the yellow bird gets mad, my son reads his part very expressively, and laughs a lot.

Cute but missing something?
Not sure how to really review this one as the book is about nothing at all, but my 2 year old loves it. It's funny to read out loud as all Mo Willems books are, but it felt so different from Harper's other books, that I felt kind of sad. We love her other books as well. Again, my daughter loves it and consistently reaches for it from her bookshelf, so obviously happy with the addition to our collection. I LOVE the Elephant and Piggie reading series and cannot wait for more. It's so cute to get a reading recommendation from Mo and a little Elephant and Piggie sketch in the beginning and end.

A fun-to-read book about how nothing can become something
The Good for Nothing Button is a fun-to-read book about how nothing can become something, with the right attitude and a little imagination. This is a strong addition to the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series featuring different authors and brief introductions and conclusions from Gerald and Piggie. I bought this book to share with my 1st grade students.

More fun with Mo and friends
The next best thing to Mo Willams, is an author whose sense of humor parallels his. The new Elephant and Piggie series offers fun stories by lesser-known authors who "get" this humor and can write simply enough for his young readers. The laughs are there, the characters are there, and the simplistic drawings, that look like anyone could draw it, is there.
