Works as described
The usage of this product really extends the life of your humidifier filters. I do worry a little about just what else I’m putting in the air and breathing in, but using this product absolutely extends the filter life.

great product
This products say on it not for cold steam vaporizers (which is what I have) I took a chance and use it and it worked great, producing enough steam in my bedroom to keep the inside of my nostrals and lips & mouth moist all through the night. This products makes the minerals in the water easy to clean off with a swipe with paper towels (Although there are products out their meant specifically for that, and I do recommend that you use that a few times a year). I am in NYC and our tap water is high quality and has a low mineral contact, that is not the same everywhere.

I have 3 humidiriers and this product seems to work well. Ordered two bottles and have used a full bottle now according to thedirections. It seems to be working well as I live where it has hard water and the scale build up is minimal or non existant.

Pink color makes wick look like it has "pink mold'
This product works well and extends the life of the wicks, but the pink color is a problem. I have trouble with "Pink Mold," (which is actually Staph bacteria that can cause respiratory infections). I add treatment to prevent the pink mold, but with the pink color staining the wicks it looks very much like the pink mold which would grow without the treatment! As others have stated the pink color can also be difficult to remove if you spill even a drop of it (I have white counter tops which really show the color). I don't know if the pink is an added dye or an active ingredient, but other colorless products seem to work just as well.

User error, but saved it
So I accidentally bought this without looking at the enlarged picture and the details on the product page stating this cannot be used with an ultrasonic type of humidifier. Whoops. Fortunately it wasn't all bad and a wasted purchase like I thought. I'm able to use this in my swamp cooler with no adverse effects. The scale buildup and sludge collects in the bottom and all I have to do is give it a quick flush refill and add some more of this water treatment.
