Can these be used stand alone as a relay?

No. These devices read an NFC card or tag and transmit the data over an SPI interface to a host device that could operate many outputs such as a relay. It is difficult, but not impossible to distinguish a failed read (password fail) from a successful read in a stand alone mode. Also, these devices run at 3.3v and very low power. If you find a method to toggle an aux pin with a good read only (also theoretically possible with the right configuration), the output pin is insufficient to safely drive a relay directly.
