How long do the batteries last?

Fresh batteries will easily provide 4 to 6 hours of life, I've gotten even more. More than enough for a gig or recording.

It comes with, and is powered by a pair of AA alkaline batteries.

would it work fine with a soprano ukulele?

yes...it works on anything that the pickup can slip on to: soundhole, f-hole, etc

Will this also connect to a standard electric guitar?

This is not exactly designed for electric guitar. The AUX port can technically accept this signal, but this is not it's design.
