This was the book I ordered and needed; however, the packaging was unacceptable. I purchased a brand new book and upon receiving, there was no plastic wrap/covering on the book as there were on the others I purchased, and the books were easily sliding around in the package. To add to that, the first four pages of the book have (2) 1-2 inch tears in the middle of the bottom of each page. I did not submit a complaint and ask for another book because it was the book I needed and class was beginning before another book could be received. I intend on selling it back to Amazon with my others; however, I am sure they will not accept it due to the minor tears at the bottom, I have put tape on them to prevent further tearing. If this is the case with the buyback, I will be very displeased.

This textbook has a lot of great information, but the presentation is not very clear. There are Chapters, sections, cases, figures, tables, preview questions, section reviews, chapter reviews, fun-fact type boxes, notes, and more. All these items seem to have different colors on the page and take away from the focus on central topics. It feels more like there is lots of information and little "core concepts" to take away from each segment.On numerous occasions, I have not been able to find a topic or term in the index, only to return to a chapter and find the term in a spot that does not show up in the index. It makes exam studying more difficult.

First off, I'd like to say that I'm a very picky person when it comes to books, especially if I ordered it new. This book came within the time frame, but the corners were bent pretty badly... I sort of wonder if it was probably a shipping issue or that it wasn't packaged as good as it could have been. The book itself, besides the corners, where fine so I'm okay with it. Overall, everything was okay.

Though it comes with good condition like brand new, this is the most expensive SECOND HAND book i have ever had! According to my professor this is exactly what I need. Basically I had no choice buying it or not, mandatory on my suck microbiol class.

I liked because it was exactly what i was hoping to get. It was cheaper than buying hardcover and it is more practical to study individual chapters on the go, stead of carrying the whole thing around. I just found an old binder i wasnt using and BINGO, fits perfect. I had no problem with my accesses card either. Good, awesome and perfect. Really satisfied.

My professor chose this textbook for my microbiology course and it was a great choice. This textbook offers a ton of colorful, informative charts and pictures, which make learning this difficult subject more fun and much easier. The majority of the topics were very well explained and made this course fun. I would highly recommend this textbook to any microbiology professor looking for a textbook for their class!
