Saffron Smoothing Treatment - Formaldehyde Free (8 oz)

I was initially attracted to the Saffron Smoothing Treatment because you don't have to wash your hair before you use it. I really hate the whole deep cleansing without conditioner thing. It makes me feel like all of my hair is going to break off.That said, this stuff was pretty unpleasant to use. It's got the consistency of the liquid egg whites you can buy in a carton. And it's stick like putting egg whites in your hair, too. I was able to comb it through my hair, but there were some knots that were a little scary for a while.The fumes when drying and flat ironing really weren't that bad at all. The smell is pretty strong and I could still smell it in my hair the morning after, even after washing it out, but it's not unpleasant.The results are really nice, and that's what counts. My hair has the heavy, smooth, almost greasy feel that I love. It seems to tangle and break less (earlier this year I bleached it twice, then did a relaxer and then it started falling out by that handful, so this is huge). It really stripped the remaining dye from my hair, so that's something to watch out for. It also seemed to dry really fast, which is amazing, because my hair normally takes 5 hours to air dry and I've never had the patience to blow it dry 100%.I've only done the initial washout and I haven't washed it again, so things could definitely change, but I'm liking the current results.

I applied this solution 3 times ( on my own hair and 2 other). It definitely works, but I am not sure if it will last for 4 months.1. I have loose waves naturally but no curls. It started getting grey prematurely and I had to dye the roots every 3 weeks or so. Since then my hair has been extremely frizzy and unruly beside being so dry. I applied the application as directed around 9 weeks ago. I wash my hair every day and if I workout or sweat too much, maybe twice a day. I mostly wash with conditioner though (Loreal Ever Sleek Keratin works well for now). I apply generous amount of argan oil after shower and then I'm good to go (air dry). It's not as frizz free as the first month but still pretty good. I hope I can keep it for 6-8 more weeks before applying again. It's pretty tiring and time consuming when you have long hair. I have started applying Olaplex 3 once a week to help it sustain the treatment.2. I found the solution very rich. One bottle for 3 people with long hair is a very good deal. The fumes are pretty bad when ironing, so a respiratory mask is helpful. I have applied Keratin treatments (at the salon on my hair and at home for someone else) before and I prefer this one to those.3. The 2 other people (one similar hair to mine, the other curly and soft) liked the results so far ( after 4-6 weeks of application). They wash their hair less than mine also.4. I don't know how the solution will hold up once you dye your hair.5. I am not a stylist or a pro, but I watched a lot of videos regarding this type of applications. It took me more than 5 hours every time (long and full hair) to do the treatment. I kept the application longer than 50 min though (more like 1.5 hours) as we all had thicker and frizzier hair than average. I applied the solution row by row with a brush, massaging with hand covered in gloves and then combing to distribute. Repeat for the next layer. When done, wrap in saran wrap and wait for more than 50 min. Blow dry, running your fingers through the hair to help it (it's pretty gooey). It might take 20-30 min if you have long and thick hair. Ironing thin layers of hair (as thin as you can), using lower heat for thinner hair. Passing iron at least 7-8 times. Wash the hair with sulfate free products. Apply some oil. Don't pony tail or clip the hair until the next wash.

I read reviews but generally do not write them. I felt so strongly about warning people about this product I wrote this 6 months after using it. Not only did this product make my hair dry and brittle, very "straw like", it radically changed the color of my hair (which is normally a dark blond). I followed the directions very carefully and had not colored my hair for close to 2 months before using this product. My hair turned the brassiest orange color. It took coloring it two more times, a seriously deep conditioner, and a color toner to get the brassy color out of my hair. In addition to that, it broke so many ends of my hair, which I'm still dealing with after 3 haircuts. And sadly, to make it all worse, it didn't work as a smoothing treatment. I threw the rest of it away. Definitely would not recommend.
