Good mirror lens
This lens give you a lot of reach.I haven't been successful hand-holding this lens. A monopod makes all the difference when panning a moving subject. To capture an immobile subject, I still need to use a monopod, focus carefully, and hold steady. This is not meant to be critical of the lens; after all, this is the equivalent of a 1200mm lens and so even the slightest movement is magnified. The focusing ring turns the wrong way for a Nikon user, as does the Kenko's.The T-mount sent with my unit does not fig snugly in the camera body. The Kenko had the same issue until I replaced the T-mount with a different brand for about $10; now all is well. I have another T-mount on order for the Rokinon.A 105mm diameter lens hood is finally available for this product. It is inexpensive and probably a worthwhile addition. It is HUGE, almost as big as the lens itself! The lens is comparable to the reflex-Nikkor 500mm or the Kenko 400mm mirror for the casual user such as myself. Of the three, I use the Kenko the most often simply because of its smaller size. I take the Rokinon 800mm when I anticipate needing the maximum reach. The Rokinon is the least expensive of the three and would be my recommendation for someone who is up to the challenge of using a mirror lens and has a limited budget.

Cheap & Good
For the price of this lens you got a lot.Well buildet, strong. I like used hand hold at high ISO (1600), with nice result. I took the moon and you can see the craters very clear. With a tripod you can accurate its performance. As it has a very short deep of field no chance used in movement subjects like sport or similar.

Returned for Refund
Unable to get lens to focus propertly using Nikon D40 and Nikon 5200. Atleast 50 - 100 pictures taken and none were in focus. Item being returned for full refund

Simply too soft
Bought this for knowing that a mirror lens was going to be a challenge to manually focus, but the image quality was significantly less than I had prepared myself for. The extremely shallow depth of field coupled with lack of fine control on the focus ring made it impossible to get a reasonably sharp image despite the using a tripod, mirror up mode, a remote shutter release, and LiveView for manual focus, all while taking photos of a stationary target in good light. This was made all the more challenging by the fact that the focus ring (like many modern lens) goes beyond infinity, so that even far targets are tough to focus in on. While a known artifact on mirror lenses, the doughnut bokeh for light points outside the DOF didn't bother me.I like to push the boundaries of 'consumer optics (stacking teleconverters, for example) to see what I can eek out of the equipment, and I'd like think I have got a good handle on fixing images in post-production (various sharpening techniques, including stacking images to improve signal-to-noise). But I just couldn't save the images taken with this lens, especially when compared to those taken using my 'Bigma' or an old Nikon prime coupled with tele's. And as far as I know, there is no way to collminate these lens.Of course, you're mileage and skills may vary - I gave it two stars because it does take an image and might work for someone who needed low quality reach at an inexpensive price point.

Okay lens, has some drawbacks, good only for beginners
got this lens two weeks ago, I had it shipped to india, Amazon took about a month to deliver, 10 days more than their own estimated date. In these 10 days, I must have checked "Track package" option a hundred times to know where its been travelling.Anyways, I got this mirror lens to use it with my Nikon d3200. this is my second lens apart from the stock lens 18mm-35mm AF. These are the drawbacks i found on this lens1) has a fixed aperture , so you cannot zoom in or out, only option is to manually set the focus.2) difficult to spot a distant object instantly, because the view is so narrowed down.3) was able to take the best shots in medium light/ shaded area, was utterly disappointed with pictures taken on very bright sunny day or low light,4) does have bokeh issue, i was aware of only this issue with the lens.5) it works only in the manual mode, camera with high iso and shutter speed with very much recommended.now coming to the good part,1) cheap as hell, good for starters like me.2) light weight and not a big size, its slightly bigger than a beer mug,3) can take average to good pictures in a limited range.

Excellent value for a sharp telephoto.
For those of you interested in basic astrophotography, such as photos of the Moon or nebulae, this lens is ideal. It out performs other refracting telephoto lenses that cost five times as much because of its high magnification and large light gathering capacity. I expected the focus to be soft, a frequent complaint with catadioptric lenses, but this one is quite sharp. Can be used for nature photography, with post processing sharpening to bring out the details. Should be used with a tripod to focus properly This is a high quality product, and well worth the $200.

Good lens with limitations
Nice, well built sharp lens as long as you realize it's limitations. Needs to be used on sturdy tripod, focusing is often difficult because depth of field is very small, and of course no auto focus or light metering. Considering negatives versus cost, build and image quality, I would purchase again.
