Theory Time: Workbook Series - Theory Fundamentals Grade Three

I love using this series to teach theory to my more advanced Piano students. It spends a lot of time reviewing at the beginning, then very logically introduces new material with each lesson. It also does a great job of reinforcing concepts. My more motivated students fly through the material, and it has helped them greatly with their piano performance.

There are a lot of great theory books out there and I have used most of them. This series my students love! It is easy to get my students to do a couple of pages a lesson and often times they will do more during the week. As a teacher I like how the first half of the book is review from the previous book. This works great; if the student understood the book they were working in I skip a level when ordering the next book. On the other hand if my student had difficulties with the information I simply order the next book and we can review the information again before moving into new information. I think the students like the "comics" looking book and the games inside. .

This is one of my favorite titles in the Theory Time series: just the perfect balance of review and new topics. I love the synthesis of the Theory Fundamentals. Once a student has gone through this book, they are ready to move on to all those pesky half/whole steps and dotted rhythms found in grade four.

I give it 4 stars not because it's not a good book, just because I got two of them and we ended up not using them.

We love our theory time books, in our homeschool. My favorite is that all the ear training is linked to YouTube - so the kids can do it while I’m working with someone else.
