AA1900 Rocket Air Blaster Large - Black

The Giottos AA1900 Rocket Air Blaster was bought mainly for cleaning dust off my Nikon D850, but I’ve ended up using it for a lot more than that. Performance: It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It pushes a strong, controlled burst of air that works well for blowing dust off camera gear without touching anything. It’s also been useful for cleaning my keyboard and getting dust out of my computer. Feel/Quality: It feels solid in hand and is easy to control. The rubber build gives it a good grip and it holds its shape well when in use. Limitation: No real complaints, but it’s still a manual air blower, so it’s not as powerful as compressed air for heavier cleaning jobs. Conclusion: Overall, it’s a simple but very useful tool that I now reach for more often than I expected. Works well for camera gear and has found multiple uses around my setup.

Giotto makes the best hand-held airblowers (in my experience.) In this case it’s being used to blow dust out of a laptop keyboard. If you compare it to another brand to blow the same piece of paper, this will send that paper farther away. I have used another Giotto to blow dust off camera lenses and it works great. The rubber used is just soft enough to provide an easy squeeze, and solid enough to provide a strong burst of air. One more thing: hold the keyboard upside down over a towel to let the dust fall away from the keyboard while you blow on it. You may need to have someone hold the keyboard while you squeeze the Giotto. BONUS: You may also build up your hand muscles in the process!

The AA1900 Large Rocket Blaster does its job very well, and you won't find a better air blower for the price (or twice the price). The diaphragm is well constructed, and the feet, though slightly soft, are plenty stable to hold the device upright. Two of the feet have a small hole, useful for affixing some kind of strap or string for carrying or hanging around your neck. The blaster is easy enough to squeeze quickly and produces a good blast of air from the nozzle. It does have a "rubbery" smell at first, but it airs out pretty quickly. The nozzle itself is removable, and can be stored inverted in the diaphragm to save a little space in your bag. Note, however, that the nozzle takes good, firm pulling to remove from the diaphragm, and is also a snug fit (so replacing it takes significant force as well). I don't fault the design here - just pointing out that it's not a quick task, and if you're like me, you won't use it often. The only flaw I've found with the device is with possibly its most noteworthy feature. There is a one-way air valve in the base of the diaphragm, the idea being that as you loosen your grip on the diaphragm, air refills it through the base only, and doesn't suck back in the dust you just blew loose. However, in my experience, some air does still re-enter the diaphragm via the nozzle, so it is possible to get dust back into the diaphragm. That dust is going to come gusting back out of the nozzle the next time you squeeze it. However, when squeeze the diaphragm, air only exits out of the nozzle. That part works great. It's worth pointing out that the amount of air that re-enters via the nozzle is dramatically reduced by the existence of the air valve, so it's not totally without merit (and is certainly better than a blower without one at all). It seems to me that they could have employed a similar one-way valve on the nozzle end (in reverse, obviously) so that air could only exit that end, and not re-enter.

This is wonderfully versatile tool. And I am so grateful it is in my life. I purchased it to keep the SONY lenses on my new SONY a7r free of debris. It works beautifully. It has helped me immensely and many times when the breeze in sunny San Diego brought an unwelcome dust particle to my lens or lens filter. It blows off tiniest and larger particles immediately. It is an indispensable travel companion in my photo backpack and gets almost daily use. I trust it to blow off dust and debris and leave the lens or lens filter clean and clear. The valve built into the Rocket Air blaster prevents any dirty air from being expelled back onto the surface you are cleaning. What a great concept and extremely helpful. It is small enough to fit into my backpack or smaller photo bag, and can even be squished and folded to take up less space. I also use it to blow dust off my eyeglasses, computer equipment and so forth. A great tool to have and definitely indispensable. I totally recommend it for hobby and professional photographers alike. Pros: it is inexpensive; it's on prime delivery; it has a built-in valve to keep the dirty air away from your surfaced to be cleaned; it's small; it's foldable; it can stand and be stable on a flat surface; one handed operation, red tip to find it easily in your bag of tricks Cons: it's black so it sometimes gets 'lost' in a black bag with black equipment around it, luckily the red tip helps keep it visible :)

unironically worth the price, theres a lot of inflated cool factor for those that think they need this.. but its actually functionally better. more airflow volume, it will last longer, and it doubles as a great stress toy. sounds ridiculous but i wouldnt mind dropping $20 for another one.

I have not got that much to add to the many existing fine reviews of this product. When the product description used the word “large,” I didn't realize just how large this thing would be, and so I naively thought I could toss it into my camera's gadget bag! Think again, as it's far too big for that (unless I buy a bigger bag)! So, I keep it at home, and use it regularly. It creates a tremendous movement of air, so it's fine for blowing off dust particles and other small pieces of debris that collect on the camera lens, and other places. I keep a UV filter permanently in place on my lenses, but dust gets underneath even so, and so this blower comes in handy for regular cleaning. As other people have observed, this device won't remove everything, so you should still invest in a cleaning brush if you want to be able to clean your camera and lens properly. I've noticed a lot of comments about whether or not you should clean your camera's sensor, and I will add my two cents for what they're worth. I'd be very careful with regard to blowing air into the camera's innerds, whether it be by the use of this product, or when using a spray can (and you should be ultra careful when using the latter at all times because little dabs of propellant could come out and you don't want those inside your precious camera's inner workings). Most definitely do not stick the nozzle of this device right inside the camera body where it could touch sensitive parts like the mirror, shutter, or sensor. Keep a respectful distance when dealing with such components. This is a great product, and it does exactly what it's designed to do – no more, no less. I'd recommend it to anybody.

At the end of the day, this is a very simple thing that does a very simple thing. However, as a reviewer, I must go through the FURPS principle a) Functionality - to blow air (not aerosols - otherwise it will leave a film on your lens) - not under super high pressure, and the jet of air cannot be super-cooled (otherwise your glass may crack). Does it do the work? Absolutely - Score = 100 b) Usability - Requirement: Should be easy and intuitive to use. The "body" of the blower is the right size... it fits the average hand well. Nozzle is the right size. The legs of the rocket make it stand up, and the nozzle does not fall off. Much appreciated. Nozzle size (length) is also good. Score > 85 c) Reliability - Looks well made, even though I do not have statistical data on how quickly the rubber ball will crack, but I have used other products from Giotto (which were well made), so I am going to give this the benefit of the doubt. Score = 85 d) Performance - This is measure of how quickly it can keep blowing. Since this is a manual device, the only sensible measurement is how quickly it can refill the ball by itself, once the pressure is released. I found the refill time to be quite quick, so I will score it at 90 e) Scalability - where can this device be used? Since this is a general-purpose photography device, it can be used on many things. Score 85 Well, if you ask me why I did not score it at a full 100, I would say there is something missing - and that is a detachable brush. Since most of us will use this to blow dust from our lenses, a brush would be good

O melhor fucfuc para limpar as lentes e câmeras. Excelente e além de tudo é robusto e parece que vai durar um bom tempo!

Einsatzbereich: Persönlich verwende ich den "Super Rocket-air Blower" zum Reinigen der Tastatur und des Gehäuseinneren des PCs. Vor allem dient er dazu da, die Kühlerlamellen von Staub zu befreien. Das ist bei meinem Gehäuse immer ein Problem, denn der Rechner befindet sich auf dem Dachboden. Da es immer im Sommer unangenehm warm wird, habe ich zur Vermeidung von Hitzeproblemen mehrere Lüfter verbaut. Dementsprechend viel Staub wird auch angesaugt. Bisher verwendete ich immer Druckluftdosen, da ich aber den Rechner mehrmals im Jahr reinige, ist die "Super Rocket" auf lange Sicht einfach preigünstiger. Zudem ist der Bereich der von der Druckluft "erfasst" wird, größer als bei den Dosen. Eigenschaften und Handling: Die Rakete passt gut in die Hand (normalgroße Hände) und lässt sich auch gut zusammendrücken. Der Druck der erzeugt wird, reicht zumindest für meine oben beschriebenen Belange aus. Der Staub wird gut entfernt. Die Spitze ist ca. 5 cm lang, etwas länger (vielleicht 1 cm oder 2 cm) wäre vielleicht ein klein wenig besser gewesen. Auch Alternativspitzen wären eine Überlegung. Soweit ich weiß ist die Spitze abnehmbar, allerdings habe ich es selbst noch nicht probiert. Kann es auch im Moment nicht, die Rakete ist bei einem Freund, der sie gerade selbst ausprobiert. Das einzige worauf man etwas Acht geben sollte ist die "Bewegung". Da man die Rakete zusammendrücken muss um die Druckluft zu erzeugen, wird sie unweigerlich bewegt, zumindest die Spitze. Je nachdem wie gut man es selbst beherrscht mal mehr mal weniger. Das kann dazu führen, dass man gegen den Kühler stößt. Ist jetzt nichts weltbewegendes. Man sollte nur aufpassen nicht mit der Hand oder dem Arm "auszurutschen" und dann somit zu stark gegen den Kühler zu stoßen, das ist immer eine Belastung. Fazit: Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit der Rakete. Die einzigen zwei Kritikpunkte (Länge & Bewegung), sind für mich nichts weltbewegendes, denn ich kann trotzdem problemlos mein Gehäuse von Staub befreien. Von daher 5 von 5 Punkten. Und ja, wenn man möchte, kann man sie sich auch auf den Tisch stellen :)
