10 Inches Artist Proportional Scale Divider Drawing Tool, Pantograph Drawing Tool Allow Architects and Artists to Transfer Different Measurements onto Paper While Keeping The Same Proportions

Watercolor painting is difficult enough. I paint plein air as often as possible but until I retire I will have to paint from photos - like most artists do - but hesitate to admit. I like to draw everything freehand but I have to lightly sketch everything to make sure it 'fits' before I start painting-and that takes time. This tool allows me to make sure that I have some of the important aspects of the sizes and positioning of the things in the photo correct - right away - which saves so much time. No erasing! You can adjust the tool to different proportions like 1:1.25, 1:1.5, 1:1.75, 1:2, 1:3, etc. (I'm guessing these but you get the picture). This way, depending on the size of the photo, it's accurate with the size of paper you are painting on. My initial paintings with it worked out very well. The price is very reasonabe for the end result. This is a must have for artists - get one!

I couldn't find one in any of our Hobby or Art Stores. I was very impressed with the delivery and the quality of the item. Made out of composite materials, it is very light. The I prefer this over the ones made of brass is that I can use them with my tablet or computer, they are not expensive, and I don't risk damaging the screen with a sharp metal device. This tool really speeds up getting drawings at accurate proportions. Lightweight and great price.

Works well

It is easy to use. However, it took three seconds to realize that it needs improvement. First and most obvious, the ratios are not marked. Second, it needs a lock. The pivot is so loose that just moving from the initial measurement can make the device change. That makes it almost useless. But, if you are careful then it is roughly ok. Maybe a jury rigged nut and bolt would work. Third, the hole placement seem odd. Comparing the ratios with a ruler seems like they are not integer ratios such as 2:1, 3:1, 3:2, etc. That may be due to note 2 above. Fourth, no instructions included. Even a few sentences could help address these issues.

Everything came as it should with and the only reason I dinged it for accuracy is because, of course, it it not made to engineering level accuracy, but also because there are no markings (and no paper info) to let you know the sizes each hole represents. You can go on this site to see the size reference, but that can be a hassle when working in plein air, so make your own cheat sheet.

Interesting little gizmo. Not quite 10 inches, but is 25 CM long. Made out of plastic. Quite light with a plastic pin that snaps in to a holder for drawing size adjustment. Comes in its own zip storage pouch along with two extra pins and holders in a tiny storage bag I presume in case one wears out from use. Should work just fine. I like it.

El producto llegó en buenas condiciones y antes de tiempo. La calidad no es muy buena, el material se siente frágil así que hay que usarlo con cuidado. Cumple con su función, pero no tienen instructivo ni las escalas indicadas.
