VTech - Remote Racer Smart Car

Great first remote control car. Design is engaging for youngsters and was not too fast. The remote control was easy enough for young kids to use....was rather intuitive for my toddler.

Both my 9 month old son & 3 year old daughter love playing with this car. I would highly recommend it to anyone with small children. I bought this car as another option to play with after purchasing the VTech Move and Zoom Racer. Old problem is that the remote control unit does lose contact with the car and you need to push a button on the car to reestablish communication between the two.

I took a chance on this, despite the other reviews. You win some, you lose some...The toy is well made, cleverly designed, and the remote is the best that I've seen for young children. The different modes are cool, the car has good RF reception, the battery life is good, and the car with the moving driver is very cute. However -- the car has a battery-saving mode which automatically kicks in after a about a minute. Sometimes it kicks in while the car is being used! Others have incorrectly identified this problem as a RF problem -- it's not. It's a very poorly implemented auto off feature which cannot be disabled. It's really a shame, because this is in all other respects an awesome toy. What is even more amazing, is that VTech hasn't fixed this simple problem yet. Strange. Not recommended.

the car came bad, the remote never served. if I had read the reviews before I had not purchased. I can not go back because I live in another country. As for the material that was manufactured is very good, colors are beautiful, but it is not worth a car with remote control if the control does not work

I'm giving this one 2 stars because we loved the product and the idea of it, but there is a glitch in the communication between the remote and the car. After about 20-30 seconds of playtime, the car just stops responding. The only way to make it go again is to push the buttons on the car. While our son figured that out quickly, he also gets frustrated with it very quickly and stops playing with it. Overall, it's a cute little toy and our son absolutely loved it! That is, until the remote and the car stops communicating

I have a 3, 2 and 1 yr. old boy living with me. This has been a great toy for all! A little hard to do yet for the 1yr old but he likes the learning car. He is getting better @ the remote. Durable colorful. The batteries that come with it are display batteries so they didn't last long. New ones are in and it's working great! Not a very loud toy either, with 3 little boys here that is a plus!

This car is actually pretty decent for the little ones. It's got full steering, instead of the old style, reverse to turn kind of RC cars. The range is kind of short, but that just encourages the little guy/girl to move around. Two speed settings helps in getting the kids adjusted to RC controls.The only con I can think of is that the battery life is pretty short.

My son got this car for Christmas. He instantly loved it! He played with it a lot and we had to replace the batteries pretty quickly. In a month we changed the batteries in the car twice. Suddenly one day the car quit driving. It had been driven on carpet and tile. Everything else worked, but the car would not move. I was able to exchange it for a new one. I received it over the weekend and will update this rating to let readers know how well the second one holds up. I am hopeful that it was a fluke that our first one broke and this one will not tear up. He really, really loves this toy!

Brought this for my 3 year old son, Its easy for him to handle, it drives well. the noises are clear, the lights flash. It is also good on "wear and tear" it has been crashed into the fridge and wall so many times, and no marks on it. Great toy for him.

Really cool to watch your nephew figure this toy out... great development toy... in small doses toy does make a lot of noise (talking, motor sounds). so its not something you would want to let them have all day. The sounds aren't loud but non the less still loud enough

This car is definitely cute and my son really likes it... but I have issues with it.PROS:- very cute design- easy remote- learning features are a bonus- songs are fun and not too annoying- interactions are also funCONS:- The range of the remote is poor... you have to be within 12ft of this car otherwise it won't work.- It shuts off randomly.- The turning radius is terrible.- Its not very fast; and on a matted floor has trouble with traction.

Has a very short range, so a 2 year old doesn't understand that he needs to follow the car very closely for the remote to work. I wish I'd read online reviews - I'm having same problem as many others, in that it just suddenly shuts down after 10 seconds, so you have to go & press a button to turn it on again. I contacted VTech - no response. Don't waste your money.

Everyone (cousins) got remote control cars this Christmas and I wanted an appropriate one for my 2 year old niece. This one is easy to use and even teaches the kids directions etc. It is fast, loud and tough…so much so that my 4 year old loved it too. Great gift. Came on time too.
