Great purchase so far
We've had this toaster oven for a little over a month now and I've used it a few times. It doesn't take long to heat up and that is quite nice. It doesn't heat up my kitchen like my electric stove does, but it still does a little. Just so that no one is fooled into thinking it won't. I like that everything is just knobs and not an electronic "keyboard" like I've seen on other models. That would be a little complicated for my family. The knob for the temperature is a little "loose", meaning it doesn't click into place. I would prefer if it did. Then, I couldn't figure out how to get the toaster to the "cooking" on position. I had to call to find out. The manual seemed to say, "You should automatically know to turn it hard to the left". When in reality it didn't have that in there, just that you were supposed to turn it to the "On" position. Once I found that out I was pretty happy. I've cooked cookies in there and they came out pretty good (they were the pre-made ones). I do find that it takes a little longer to cook items in the toaster oven. But only by 3-5 minutes. I wish it had an "oven light". It would make viewing baking items in it much easier for me. Then I decided to try frozen pizza in it last night. That was a little disaster. When I looked in the oven after 24 minutes the crust still looked light (I couldn't see the top of the pizza because it's dark - would need a flashlight). So we added another three minutes. I pulled it out after the time was up and saw that though the crust closest to the door was just right (and the cheese slightly browned) the crust in the back of the toaster oven was a really dark brown and the cheese was burned. Part of it was my fault (the rack should have been lower - but I didn't know that). It seems the back of the toaster oven gets really hot, but not so much the front of it (which kind of makes sense since that's where the door is and heat escapes, my guess). It's not a bad toaster oven, just have to take these things into consideration. I may try another pizza in there just to see if it helps moving the rack down. But, it doesn't help the crust issue. I haven't tried it for making toast. My toaster works just fine. But it does a really great job re-heating food (and that's what we use it mostly for). Also, my broiling pan has started to rust a little and it doesn't make sense. I've used it twice and washed it three times. Making sure it dries in the dish rack before putting it on top of the toaster oven for storage reasons. I will contact Cuisinart to find out if they will replace it. Over all, I am happy I purchased it. It isn't as big as some reviews led me to believe. It was a little taller than my Black N Decker it replaced, but it had the same size length and width. I expected it to be humongous. It wasn't. It's an appliance that is designed to be on your counter top and will therefore take up space. It can't be small or otherwise the purpose of it would be almost pointless. It only gets a three star because it doesn't seem like it cooks pizza very well, the temperature is a little off and the rust is an issue, plus the directions for use are not very detailed.

I use to love this Cuisinart model toaster oven broiler
I use to love this Cuisinart model toaster oven broiler. I had one before. I had it for several years. I wanted to replace it, and get a newer one. This one was suppose to be improved from my older model, however, the time control knob doesn't work as well. One has to turn it all the way about half way in order to toast. Before, I did not have to do that. Also the time control knob is looser, therefore, making it more flimsy. I wish they would have just left it like it was. I had previously read some reviews where customers complained about the time knob stating it was difficult. I'm not sure what planet these people were on. Anyway, problems aren't so bad that I won't keep it.

Works well, controls are hard to read
I got this for my wife for Christmas last year, and so far we are very pleased with its performance. It cooks and toasts well, and is easy to clean. Setting the three knobs, however, is kind of a pain. The printing is very small, and goes all the way around the knobs, so you have to lean down to see all the settings. Plus, the top knob has no ratcheting, and feels loose, although it isn't. The result is that you may be broiling when you think you're toasting, or you may have set the toaster timer too long. If you take the time to double check all the settings each time you use it, however, it will really do a nice job. We mostly use it for making toast and cornbread, and sometimes to keep dishes warm. We haven't tried cooking meat in it, as the potential clean-up would be more than we want to deal with.

Great for Toasting and Reheating
So far this toaster is working good. We replaced and old Cuisinart toaster that we had for 3 years - it was still ticking, but was toasting uneven. Since we had such luck with the last one, we decided to stick with this brand. We use this every day to toast and a few times a week for kids snack and reheating - It is easy for my kids to use and seems to be heating and toasting fairly evenly. It is a little uneven right at the front, but we just push the food back a bit and it seems fine. The only think I miss, it on our last one when you opened the door the rack was attached and came out a few inches, this one stays in place.

Very good - but not as good as last model we had
We had almost this exact model about 4 years ago - and the spring on the door broke - so we decided to replace with same model as we loved it!! It is almost exactly the same however they moved the leave oven on button to go to the left and the toaster button to go to the right - the old model had go to a certain point on the right for the toaster or further to keep on. But if I didn't have the original one I would never have noticed. So not a big issue!! Great big rack for toast and nice tray for the oven - we can heat up 2 + slices of pizza - or 8 taco shells - etc at a time - Convection is a +++!
