NKJV, Serenity, Paperback, Red Letter: A Companion for Twelve Step Recovery

I read this Bible Study and 12 Step book when it was first published, and I am still reading my beautiful copy. It is a good introduction to both the New Testament and the 12 Steps. It is not overwhelming for a beginner, and the small size is easy to carry around. You can quickly read through all of the meditations in the book on any step, or take it slowly.This is one of the books I used for inspiration when I wrote the first edition of  Prayer Steps to Serenity The Twelve Steps Journey: New Serenity Prayer Edition [Paperback ]. I wanted to make my book more of a workbook and book that actually teaches you how to pray through each of the 12 Steps and the Serenity Prayer using daily meditations and weekly study questions. Also, I wanted my book to be a Personal Prayer Journal and Personal Study Guide, with a Group Journey Guide for small groups. I conduct Serenity Groups in my church, and we still use readings from "Serenity: A Companion For Twelve Step Recovery" in our meetings. I have read Serenity a Companion for Twelve Step Recovery for several years. The combination of meditations and scripture readings deepens the understanding of the Bible and its purpose. One validates the other. After one accepts that, in truth, he/she is not in control one's own thoughts and attitudes these readings allow one to choose the thoughts and attitudes to put in control of one's life. In other words, "garbage in -- garbage out" can be changed to "truth in -- truth out." There is a communal requirment with any reading necessary that ideas may gain life. An understanding of one's self and the drives behind it allows progress in the realm of ideas. It is not that specifics within the text or meditations should be quoted, except in a study of them, but that a person in reflecting on the messages may choose to be changed in attitude and insight and become a more intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually balanced individual. The lessons learned presented are beneficial to enhance human discourse but not a replacement for it. The book would be particularly beneficial for Christian clergy that are by training opposed to anything so practical.

Too small a lettering

These folk know what they are talking about. They have been there and overcame. The beauty of this book is that The Word of Our God is included which just by itself is a wealth of help. I have never seen a book laid out this way. It is helpful for anyone that is tired of being tired of being tired of addictions to whatever! It is so worth it. You really must check it out to understand what Im saying here. It is for those that are really trying to beat any addiction. The people that wrote this have quite an insight of all the struggles one goes through and how to deal with it. If your serious about getting as far away from an addiction as you can, this is it! This is one of the very best books I read and continue to use with the 12 step program

Very unhappy. I'm familiar with the prior version of this book. I hoped this would be at least as good. I paid $30 plus $10 for shipping and taxes and I received this tiny 3x5" book with tiny, tiny print. And from what I can see so far there is no improvement over the prior version. This is outrageous. For $40, I expected a real book.

AWESOME BOOK that I had used in early recovery and must have let somebody use. I was excited and grateful for the reminder when I was looking thru other resources that others have purchased along with the Life Recovery Bible and this popped up! Amazon has become a very helpful and useful "avenue" that I have quickly become fond of. Thank you Amazon. Keep the good deals comin...
