Q: Will it hold a screen to prevent inside of the wooden bowl from burning? Will a wound guitar string slide into the stem and out the bowl to clean it?

Yes it holds a screen and the guitar wire is the best option to clean it up. Normally I also use the normat cotton coated strips to clean the moisture from upper side.

Q: Does this pipe accommodate a filter?

Yes it can but this pipe burns a hole in the bowl if used to frequently

Q: How do you clean this out?

Pipe cleaners. But don't buy this one. I bought it and the bowl broke apart on the first use. Look at MacQueen or Sir William Pipes. Cheers!
