Can the child bounce themselves as they move around or does an adult need to push innorder for it to bounce?

It responds to movement but I wouldn’t say it’s as bouncy as a cheaper fisher price one. With that being said I purchased this as it has a higher weight limit and I do like it especially with the adjustable head rest area. My toddler also loves to use this in rocker mode and watch movies. This will definitely grow with your child and not one you just have for 6-7 months.

can you put it on the dinner table?

I am very happy with this Ingenuity baby rocker. It was easy to assemble, and the seat is soft and comfortable for our baby.
