Both broke on the first use-- they are poorly made, the internal winding track/wheel isn't deep or wide enough to keep the wires from slipping off and tightening on the interior mechanism so it's a matter of time if you get one that doesn't do this, before it does. Neither were pulled to their maximum, or pulled roughly. I'm not kidding, they both lasted one pull each, and every subsequent pull to try to correct it just made the wire worse.

My hospital uses badges to unlock just about every staff door. Pulling on my badge all day, I have already ruined a few. This badge reel is great! My only complaint is that it is very heavy and can pull on your scrub top.

One thing that is definately consistent is it's durability!!! I bought these & gave one too my coworker, hers broke about two weeks ago. She said the wire just snapped & disconnected from the piece that holds your badge. At first I thought maybe she was too rough with it but then the same exact thing happened to me tonight. I was just wearing it on my hip & it snapped! I'm so disappointed.

These badge holders were much larger and heavier than I expected! I planned on using the gold more than the black, but the gold is so shiny and flashy that I actually ended up using the black one more. Overall, I think this a quality product and definitely worth the price!
