The Great Kettles: A Tale of Time

Dean Morrisy is amazing. The artwork is stunning, the detail, the subjects, there are treasures in every painting, and a very good story with a familiar ring to it. We have this and "Ship of Dreams" too, our son loved these and is now reading Ship of Dreams to his own daughter. We met Mr. Morrissey in 1996 and had him sign our copy and he's as fascinating and kind as his main character! For children a bit older than the toddler years- younger children may not have the patience, or understand the story line, to really appreciate these books but we're so glad we have them. They are the makings of a family tradition in excellent literature.

This is a nice long bedtime book for my 3 yr old. Long ago I had a calendar of the artwork in this book. When my son was born, I had 3 of the pictures matted and framed for the nursery. Later, I had to hunt down the book to go along with it. The artwork is wonderful for this mechanical engineer mom and budding engineer son.The story is as good as the artwork. It follows a child's imagination to the world of the Great Kettles. I would recommend for ages 4-8.Younger children may not sit still. Nor do they understand about time, the Man in the Moon, Mother Nature, etc.

Dean Morrissey is a fantastic story teller and his art is captivating - I had to purchase everything he had available.

I have no idea where we got this book (a used copy from somewhere), but it's a rare treasure that has my kids (ages 4 and 6) completely captivated. I came to Amazon to search for more by this author. Sweet, imaginative story with spectacular illustrations....and I don't write reviews on books often.

What a wonderful way to start a child on the path of imagination.Perhaps the best thing about *The Great Kettles* is that, though the story is fun and fanciful, it's not necessary. It's so much more rewarding to let a child look at the illustrations and create his or her own story. And not only children--I've found great inspiration in the colorful and detailed illustrations that grace every page.Dean Morrissey's books should be on every child's bedside table.
