Just enjoy the movie
Watching this as a sci-fi fan, it's a great sci-fi movie. Forever all the "anti-woke" rhetoric. forget all the rhetoric. Just watch and enjoy a sci-fi movie, because it's good, the acting is good, and really, there's nothing wrong with the script / plot. No one has done anything like this before. I enjoyed that.

You'll want to prepare before watching
The movie will be more enjoyable if one Google's 'things I should know before watching Chaos Walking', before watching Chaos Walking. I wouldn't call myself a dumb person. I have decent common sense and can quickly comprehend and then interpret values. I understood the overall nature of this movie just fine. It was visually excellent and well made. That being said, it is definitely made for fans of the book series. It does mention, show, or explain very important facts to help build a background and reasoning, but if one literally glances at a quick text or, heaven forbid, gets distracted, they might miss a cluster of clarifying details. These contents are also grouped in a nonchalant way in different sections that are not always the sections of the act that one would assume. Therefore it doesn't give the audience an idea of importance or the ability to reflect and comprehend before briskly moving forward to the next generalized content. These drive by's happen a few times in the movie. Especially for reasoning behind actions that are fully realistic in the book but definitely perceived as an overstretch or patriarchal in the movie. The movie never, I guess, 'dumbs itself down' to help non-readers connect the dots (or even know they even needed to connect the dots) if they happened to miss 4 or 5 seconds of important content mentioned an hour before. There is a lot, way more than average, of non verbal content that only book readers would notice to help comprehension. So basically the movie decided to give a fully intended, detailed, interesting movie to people who were already invested and would be looking for the details to make a fully intended, detailed, interesting movie they already knew the end to before even sitting down to watch it. It doesn't give enough for an everyday laten to get on board.

B+, worth watching
The pace of the movie was pleasantly surprising. The main character was likable. While there are a couple of themes digging deep into the hearts of men which will appeal to some of the audience, for the rest of us that like action and new sci-fi concepts that stimulate the imagination, there is just enough to whet the appetite.

I actually really enjoyed it
Update:After reading the books I really wish they had taken more time and done all the books. There was just so much from the books they could've worked with. The development of the characters is missed. However I would want them to use the same actors because daisy and Tom did amazing and I think they would do amazing doing it all. Or even scraping the movie and doing a TV show like the 100.I really hope they revisit it or try it again before Tom and daisy get too old (I know they won't but I wish)I still really enjoy the movie n all the actors.I really wanted to watch it, i wasn't happy i had to rent it for 20$, if i didnt have a nice system to watch it on I wouldnt have. Id rather had bought it or seen it in the theaters. i will probably buy it when i can and i wont be happy when it costs me another 20$. Which is the only reason i am giving it 4 stars otherwise it would have been 5.I love the acting, I think its very good. I like the plot very forward paced. Great cast. I didn't get bored at any part. Great Chemistry between characters. I was fully invested from start to finish and felt a range of emotions. Will recommend to friends... once the renter price goes down. really hope it will be cheaper to buy because i want to buy it...

I am Todd Hewitt I am Todd Hewitt I am Todd Hewitt
Decent sci fi movie....if you could call it that. Sci fi light. So many more interesting places this story about an unknown alien world could have gone...but was basically Todd getting chased by Mads on a horse for the whole movie. Did we really need to be on another planet for that? Not like it was some edge of your seat thriller. Here let me ruin it for you, the two main bad guys die by 1) a cigarette lighter 2) falling off a ledge. Wooo exciting. The whole movie just felt very uninspired and lacking creativity. Kind of like they were just going through the motions trying to get a movie released and make some money. (turns out they lost their asses on this one, $100 million budget with $20 million box office...too bad because I would have liked to seen where this story would have gone)Would I recommend this to anyone? Eh, if you are bored. The whole noise thing....pretty annoying. Simplifying peoples thoughts to simple phrases or one to two words repeated over and over like they have the mental capacity of a goldfish. God I would blow my brains out if this were real. The anti love story was refreshingly realistic. In real life the guy doesn't always get the girl, but for a movie? Turns out this type of plot is highly unsatisfying.I felt like this was the first episode of a TV series. Will there be others to come? Who knows? At the end I asked myself, "Was that it?? How did they even get Mads, Daisy and Tom to sign off on this sci fi channel movie script?" oh but the light was revealed after looking at the directors other work. "Jesus Christ it's Jason Bourne!" haha, yeah I would have been fooled too

The book was probably better.
is a 2021 American dystopian action film directed by Doug Liman from a screenplay by Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford. It is based on Ness's science fiction trilogy Chaos Walking, adapting its first book, 2008's The Knife of Never Letting Go. It stars Daisy Ridley, Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Demiรกn Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, and David Oyelowo. It follows a young man (Holland) who lives in a dystopian world without women, where all living creatures can hear each other's thoughts in streams of images, words, and sounds called "Noise". When a woman (Ridley) crash-lands on the planet, he must help her escape danger.Announced in 2011, the film underwent several rewrites from a draft by Charlie Kaufman, with Jamie Linden, John Lee Hancock, Gary Spinelli, Lindsey Beer, Christopher Ford, and Ness revising it further. Liman was later announced as director in 2016, and principal photography began in 2017. Originally set to release on March 1, 2019, it was removed from schedule to accommodate the film's reshoots in April 2019 after poor test screenings.Chaos Walking was theatrically released on February 24, 2021, in South Korea, and on March 5, 2021, in the United States. It received generally negative reviews from critics who criticized the film's simplistic plot, uneven pacing, and lack of character development although its visual effects and Ridley and Holland's performances received some praise. The film was deemed a box office flop, grossing $26 million worldwide against its $100 million budget and resulting in a write-down for Lionsgate. The concept was just poorly executed but Holland and Ridely do their best in another Teenage dystopian novel to film franchise.

Chaos Limping
The problem of compressing three books into 1 3/4 hours really shows here. There was no character development. A big reveal is given within the first three minutes of the film. The Spackle are next to non-existant. It seems everything that made the books great has been removed from this story. Would have been better as a trilogy of films and the film producers following the books more closely.Pity really because the books are excellent, but this film pales in comparison.

Just a interesting movie
Brought this because someone had mentioned it was streaming on Amazon movies said it was good. Watched it and thought what an interesting movie. amazing cast Tom Holland (spiderman) and Daisy Ridley(Star Wars) make this movie shine . Watching the extras found out it is based on a series of books and filmed without a script it really is a great movie . Worth getting

Interesting...
... and different for a scifi film. Totally bonkers premis though. How did they expect the community to survive beyond the few years of a single life time? It is left to the viewer to imagine some aspects of the plot but interesting and good viewing, even though some of it is "hard to watch".However, definitely one to watch.

Pretty Good
Read some reviews so i never knew this was originally a novel.Took about 30 minutes to get right into it and we (the 3 of us) loved it by the end.A great Cast and great to see Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Skayer tv series and the UK 1980s Coffee Adverts ) again in something good.
