Rugged little enclosure.
I bought one of these several years ago and it provides excellent service so I bought two more.1. Good for travel.2.And a nice system for stowing the cord.3. Easy to assemble too.4. Worked with SSD or mechanical drives. No worries about tossing it into my backpack with my laptop.

Failed 2 days after the return window closed, no response from HornetTek, second unit failed as well
I have another one of these and it's a decent, rugged drive case. This one, however, started triggering USB bus resets on any computer it's plugged into two days out of Amazon's return window. Email to HornetTek requesting an RMA has been ignored by them. I would not buy from them again.Update: Now the second enclosure has failed as well for a failure rate of 100%. Still no response from the the vendor. The warranty appears to be of no value.

Easy to open and uses screws to securely close
A bit cheaply made but overall, holds a SSD securely using the included foam block. Easy to open and uses screws to securely close. Nice touch with the included wire beaning able to secure it around the case.

UASP IS Supported...
Purchased a new Samsung 850 EVO SSD and dropped it into a Sabrent 2.5 enclosure we bought last year. Only 36MB/s throughput. Ok, that can't be right. Discovered the little Sabrent doesn't support UASP. Purchased this HornetTek and clocked 420MB/s from internal SSD to the enclosure SSD. That's more like it. This enclosure does support UASP: but curiously, nothing in the online specs or description state this -- not even on the HornetTek website. However, the box/packaging clearly does (pic attached.) Be sure to enable drive cache in Windows for maximum throughput. At least with my installation, Windows did not do this automatically; it saw the enclosure as external (rightly so) and configured it for 'Quick Removal' instead. Of course, now that it's using the cache feature, one must be sure to 'eject/disconnect' the drive from Windows each time. (Who doesn't?) Knocked off a single star for the USB Micro-B 'sidecar' type connector; I'm not a fan. Especially when a significant point of purchasing a 'ruggedized' enclosure is that it's... well... rugged. On the flip side, the cushioned housing does provide a good deal of extra protection for the grab/go life of a college student (our son.) Will update after 6 months or so, report how the unit is surviving.**************************************************Only 24 hrs and... After a little tech reading, feel I should update. According to multiple USB spec sites, the Micro-B connector(s) have in fact a higher insertion cycle rating. Much higher. From the Wiki page: 'The micro format is the most durable from the point of view of designed insertion lifetime. The standard and mini connectors have a design lifetime of 1,500 insertion-removal cycles, the improved Mini-B connectors increased this to 5,000. The micro connectors were designed with frequent charging of portable devices in mind, so have a design life of 10,000 cycles and also place the flexible contacts, which wear out sooner, on the easily replaced cable, while the more durable rigid contacts are located in the receptacles. Likewise, the springy component of the retention mechanism, parts that provide required gripping force, were also moved into plugs on the cable side.'I guess even though the big, original USB A/B connectors seem (just holding them) more durable, the spec says otherwise. So, appropriately, we've upgraded this review to 5 stars. Again, we'll update as we go.

Battle Tested
This is a great find, ive had cases in the past, they dont last long, either theyre plastic or cheaply made, nothing is perfect, but this is close enough. Its rubberized protection and internal protection help keep it ticking. The built in cord organzier is a nice touch. Great fit and work with a SSD EVO SAMSUNG. Now, they need to make a 3.5" external case one like this or very similar, maybe even with a built in fan.
